Summary: A great cross-over romance
Review: Anthropologist Ryan Burke looks forward to working with Dr. Gaffney on the Little Big Horn Battleground project. However, Gaffney greets her with contempt simply because Ryan is a woman and he believes females are a negative disruption in fieldwork. The other professionals on the project provide a warm welcome, but one of them warns her that Gaffney is stealing and selling artifacts.

Ryan speaks Lakota and knows much of the customs. When she meets the elderly Charley Crying Wolf, she greets him with proper respect. When her tent is washed away in a storm, Charley gives her a magically powerful tipi to use temporarily. At the same time, Charley's grandson, attorney Dillon Wolf, pushes to close down the Gaffney expedition. However, a freak accident leaves Dillon unconscious.

Through the tipi, Ryan finds herself in the large Indian camp in 1876 Montana just before the battle with Custer. The tipi belongs to Wolf who is confused by several visions of horseless carriages and buildings that touch the clouds. In spite of the seemingly time era problem and the fact that she is a white, they fall in love. However, just who is the bewildered Wolf, who was seen to die during an earlier skirmish?

A LOVE BEYOND TIME is an excellent blending of elements from several different types of romance classifications. The story line successfully uses time travel, Native American lore and magic, contemporary issues, and historical components blended into a powerful mix that proves Julie Aitken is a creative force with a wonderful future. The lead characters are an interesting pair and the support cast adds much depth regardless of the century. This multi-faceted winner will fascinate cross sub-genre readers.

Summary: A truly great read
Review: As a fellow author of a Native American novel, I am very picky when reading such a work by another author. I absolutely loved this book. Besides being well written, the story itself is absolutely absorbing. Having visited the site of the Battle of Little Big Horn, I found myself drawn completely back there by Ms. Aitken's on-the-mark descriptions and prose.

Summary: Excellent Time Travel Romance
Review: Dr. Ryan Burke, an anthropologist from the Smithsonian, has accepted an assignment at the Little Big Horn Valley, to document the memories of the children of the survivors of the big battle there in 1876. Ryan is instantly enamored with the culture and history of the Native people, who still call this stark area their home. However, the dig that she is involved with is suspected of selling the archifact finds and she is recruited by an old Indian to help catch the thief.

When coming back from doing laundry, the old truck she borrowed breaks down, causing her to walk back to the camp site. Once there, she spies supicious activity from the head of the dig's tent. However, her tent collapses from the storm and she takes up residence in a near by teepee. Every night, she is haunted by visions of a wolf man, who tempts her to come to him. One night, she gives in. When she wakes up, she is transported to 1876, days before the Battle of Little Big Horn.

Dillon Wolf is a hot shot attorney, who battles his tribes troubles in Washington, DC. He is determined to shut down the project which he knows is stealing from his people. After a meeting with official, Dillon is involved in an accident, where he is left in an unexplained coma.

Ryan and Wolf find each other in the past. From the first actual meeting of the two leads in the story, they are interested in each other. Ryan has difficulty, at time, understanding the reality of the way of life she has chosen to study. Wolf has difficulty understanding why he is drawn to a white woman. However, the author does a wonderful job in explaining both characters and progressing their story. Not once did I feel that love story was forced in any way. It seemed geniune, up until the end.

A LOVE BEYOND TIME was an excellent adventure. It is obvious that the author put in valuable research time, that definitely pays off in the story. This book is definitely one of the best I've read of this genre. Even the ending, which can be difficult in a time travel, is without fault and completes the novel well.

Summary: Applause -- Applause!
Review: I am so very impressed with this author's dedication to authenticity when telling her story about the Lakota. It is obvious she has spent a great deal of time with the people and has made a great effort to make her characters as true to their tribal affiliation as possible. Reading about Charley was like reading about my own grandfather. Well done! The story flowed and caught me up in the emotion and romance. Ms. Aitken's books will definitely have a permanent place on my book case.

Summary: When is the right time to fall in love?
Review: I am so very pleased to present my award-winning book, "A Love Beyond Time." The story of Ryan and Dillon is the story of two people from different cultures who are brought together in a twist of time and mystery to discover their hearts' desire. Ryan Burke is a logically-minded anthropologist. Raised in a white upper-class environment that she finds shallow and flawed, she finds happiness in a time and place beyond her wildest dreams. Dillon Wolf, an attorney for Native American issues, is a hard-edged man who is half Lakota and half Cheyenne. He is inflexible in his distrust and intolerance and is unwilling to yield or soften his resolve until, in a time and place of bygone glories on the battlefield of the Little Big Horn, the uncondtional love of an outsider teaches him to bend. "Judie Aitken skillfully delivers a timeless tale of love and destiny." Kathleen Eagle, NYT best-selling author "A Love Beyond Time" has the breathtaking sweep of an epic and the intense pacing of a thriller. Judie Aitken brilliantly brings history to life, and a long-vanished world to reality. This is a book that will touch your heart and make you cry." Alicia Rasley - author "A Love Beyond Time" will keep you spellbound. Keep your eye on this writer, she has the makings of the next Constance O'Day Flannery." Lori Soard - Word Museum -- a 5-star rating. I hope you all enjoy the magic, the mystery and the romance.
