Summary: Contemporary romance in Wisconsin
Review: Since my marriage to a Wisconsinite (aka "Cheesehead), I've learned a great deal about the Dairy State. All Night Long was a wonderful mix - a confirmation of the known and some nice new tidbits. For example, I knew that dairy farmers can somehow work way too hard and still be really sexy. What I didn't know was that Wisconsin had it's own episodes in the wars of the Frontier.

To avoid redundancy, I won't rehash the plot. Suffice it to say that this novel is a most entertaining window into life with cows and could go along way to improving the image of male dairy farmers. I found both characters to be appealing and accessible. The side plot of searching for the truth about the dead soldier was fascinating. About the only flaws in the book are the dreadful cover and the fact that this two have sex more often than I can imagine.

Summary: Simply Spectacular Book - Misleading Cover
Review: The cover of this book more accurately should have shown either a picture of a farm scene -- Victorian house with a typical midwestern barn or, if it was going to feature the characters the hero should have been blond-haired with a mustache, more at home in jeans and t-shirts and the heroine in casual dress. But that's a small complaint of this otherwise spectacular novel which proves you should never judge a book by its cover.

Writer/photographer Annie Beckett has been researching the disappearance of her ancestor Lewis Hudson for ten years. Her search has brought her to Black Hawk Hollow in Wisconsin, the place where Hudson was last known to have been back in 1832. Seeing this as a great subject for one of her coffee table books, Annie writes to Rurik Magnussen, the man who runs a dairy farm on the land where Black Hawk Hollow is located.

Magnussen (who thinks the writer is likely an older woman) is reluctant to allow anything - or anyone - upset his daily routine. But Annie, who thinks Mr. Magnussen is probably an elderly curmudgeon, persists. They lock horns when Annie arrives, but her determination pays off and Magnussen, a sexy 34-year-old better known as Rik, not only allows her to take pictures of his land, but also allows her to rent a small studio apartment in his home.

Magnussen has been living a solitary life since his wife left him for his best friend. He is still hurt, bitter, and reluctant to let anyone else in his life, despite his physical attraction to Annie. Annie had a troubled childhood, shuffled from foster home to foster home, and has been searching for years for someone or something stable in her life. Never in her wildest dreams did she figure it would be on a dairy farm in Wisconsin.

As Annie takes her photos and delves deeper into the history of the area, she finds a comrade in the president of the local historical society, Owen Decker, who just happens to be the man who is now married to Rik's ex-wife - a man Rik has never forgiven for betraying him. We also have Rik's teenage daughter, Heather, frequently at odds with her Dad, but who finds an ally in Annie.

A sexier hero than the Scandinavian Rik would be hard to find. And headstrong Annie makes a formidable opponent in the game of love.

Ms. Jerott opens each chapter with a letter from over a century and a half ago from either Lewis Hudson, his fiancée or his mother. The inclusion of these letters and in this manner, leads authenticity to the novel. From a historical mystery to solve, to an oh-so sexy hero, to passionate love scenes, and an exciting and dramatic conclusion, this book grabs the reader from the very first page and doesn't let go. There is never a dull moment in this innovative and outstanding sophomore effort from new author Michelle Jerott. It is this reviewer's opinion that this author is really going to be a big success, especially if ALL NIGHT LONG is any indication of her talents. She writes with such a maturity that it's difficult to believe this is just her second book. To merely say I loved it is an understatement. This is an absolutely terrific book, which should be enjoyed by many.

Summary: Absolutely loved this book!
Review: The dialogue between characters is exceptional - Annie and Rik are both very direct people. The love scenes are imaginative and well done. The background story about Annie's search for Lewis also hooks you and ties in very well with Annie and Rik's story. Read this book!

Summary: A GOOD BOOK
Review: This was a good book and easy to read and follow the plot. It was easy to identify with the characters. If you want to read a book that goes straight to your heart, read Stolen Moments by Barbara Jeanne Fisher. . .It is a beautiful story of unrequited love. . .for certain the love story of the nineties. I intended to give the book a quick read, but I got so caught up in the story that I couldn't put the book down. From the very beginning, I was fully caught up in the heart-wrenching account of Julie Hunter's battle with lupus and her growing love for Don Lipton. This love, in the face of Julie's impending death, makes for a story that covers the range of human emotions. The touches of humor are great, too, they add some nice contrast and lighten things a bit when emotions are running high. I've never read a book more deserving of being published. It has rare depth. Julie's story will remind your readers that life and love are precious and not to be taken for granted. It has had an impact on me, and for that I'm grateful. Stolen Moments is written with so much sensitivity that it made me want to cry. It is a spellbinder. What terrific writing. Barbara does have an exceptional gift! This book was edited by Lupus specialist Dr. Matt Morrow too, and has the latest information on that disease. ..A perfect gift for someone who started college late in life, fell in love too late in life, is living with any illness, or trying to understand a loved one who is. . .A gift to be cherished forever.

Summary: All Night Long
Review: This was a really terrific book. The main characters were well developed, both carrying just enough baggage to make them interesting. The supporting characters, an ex-wife, an ex-best friend, a teenage daughter,& a dead soldier(!), all gave the book added dimensions. The story caught me and kept me interested all the way through. The hero's repeated trouble believing in his lady love reinforced their differences and kept the story from becoming too predictable. Also, the mystery surrounding the dead soldier was a great diversion from the constant tension between the two love interests. A great weekend read!

Summary: Disappointing
Review: This was the first Michelle Jerott book I've read, and I have to say I was disappointed (especially since I like her books written as Michele Albert). Unlike some other reviews, I liked the historical sub-plot that drove the story. My problem was with the two main characters and the attraction between them. The chemistry between Rik and Annie didn't develop in any kind of believable way. I felt like I was told there was chemistry without seeing it. I kept asking myself "why are these two people together?" As for the so-called "honesty" between the characters, they went from being argumentative and mean to each other, to deciding they would become lovers. Overall I didn't much like Rik's character and wish romance authors would move away from the idea that a man has to be a jerk to be masculine and sexy.

Summary: Wonderful contemporary
Review: When a photographer contacts Rik Magnuson to write a book about a missing soldier that was lost 160 years ago on his land, Rik reluctantly agrees. Annie's main goal is to do a photo shoot of Rik's land, but also find the body of a long dead soldier she believes was murdered there.

Rik and Annie are immediately attracted to eachother, but Rik is standoffish due to his wife leaving him for his best friend and Annie is unwilling to commit because her life is her career. Together Rik and Annie learn to open their hearts and give a little.

I enjoyed All Night Long and highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a wonderfully moving romance. What else can you expect from the author of Absolute Trouble?

Summary: Childish Characters Misleading Cover
Review: Wow. Never judge a book by its cover.... I was expecting a book about two sophisticated socialites, and what do I get? An episode of the Beverly Hillbillies... I really wish I had been able to read the first few pages of this book, but no dice. I purchased it sight unseen. Boy was I disappointed.

First, I just could not abide the dialog. The intro: letters written between the hero/heroine which were supposed to be cute, were just immature and childish. I have trouble imagining two adults would write like that. I just couldn't continue after that. This, book has gone directly into the 'resale' pile without a fight. Disappointing!
