Summary: Excellent!
Review: I just finished reading this book. I was surprised at the negative reviews. The story line kept me reading. It kept me wanting to know what happened next and the results. This story was written with the realities of the times, ie, the way women were treated and used. The reality that things are not always nice like the rape and the evil, etc. The sex, even when it was rough, was good for them and that's what counts. I cared about Phillippe and Aelvina, I liked them, she was strong and he was stronger, I rooted for them. Their lives were not easy. This is the reality of those times. This was not a completely tender love story (but it became one towards the end). It wasn't all nice nice. It was a MATURE story with a love that evolves and is very moving. This is one of Ms. Rice's earlier books and is better than two of her later ones that I have read. If you are mature and want to read a very well written and mature love story, read this book.

Review: MOONLIGHT MISTRESS is not politically correct by today's rather limited guidelines. But if you enjoy a very good, very sexy, very satisfying story about believable characters of the medieval age, then hurry out and buy MOONLIGHT MISTRESS. Phillipe is an arrogant, dominant alpha male, and Aelvina is the feistiest of feisty heroines. Their love scenes are often not tender, certainly not politically correct, but they are wonderful in fantasy romance, and there's a plot twist at the end that is so clever it had me saying, "Of course!" The only thing I can say about MOONLIGHT MISTRESS is I wish New York would publish more books like this. Feminists won't allow them to do that, though. It's really sad. MOONLIGHT MISTRESS is well worth reading, to anyone who still enjoys leaving reality for a bit and joining the world of fantasy medieval romance.

Summary: Not one of my favorite stories....
Review: Ok, when an author starts the story by appologizing that this is a reissue and she tried to "modernize" it (bring it to today's romance standards) I should have known to run the other way. What a bizarre plot. I'm not sure whether this was romance, Ms. Rice's attempt at erotica, or just a plain bad storyline. Everything starts out fine. The heroine is a misplaced noblewoman who has had to travel a lot to survive. She is currently at a castle and knows the lady of the manner is going to use her as the nights' entertainment for the conquering hero. She tries to get one up on the lady by sleeping with the conqueror on her terms, not the lady's. (Basically with the promise to take her and her ailing servant with him when he leaves.) Thus far, so good (except this is only about 10 pages into the story.) To me, everything else after this point falls apart. The underlying theme of evil and perversion is WAY out there. I found the idea of what was supposed to have been done with the heroine distastful (I don't want to give away the plot). The only thing I think I liked at all was our hero, and his character was a bit flawed as well. The reason I gave this story a 3 star and didn't pan it completely is because the writing style itself was done well. I hate books where the author seems to throw together a story. Atleast there was serious thought to where this plot was going and it was developed in a satisfying manner (even if I didn't care for that manner).

Summary: Another dumb blonde!!
Review: The main character, Aelvina, was a very stupid woman. I never read a book with a character who did the complete opposite of everything that was asked of her. She put herself and everyone else in constant troubled and dangerous situations. I would have ended this story with her being beheaded for disobeying the king's orders. So much for happy endings. I truly couldn't believe Patricia Rice wrote such a bad novel until I noticed this was one of her first books. Pass this one by. It's too long and boring.

Review: This book was very sour. I did not like the way it was written at all. I did not have the heart to finish it. It did not grasp my attention nor did I find it to be worth my time. The author spent too much time on the sexual aspect of the story and forgot all about the charms usually found in romance books. I would not recommand this book to anyone.
