Summary: REALLY FUNNY, I'M FULL FROM LAUGHTER!
Review: I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK BECAUSE OF THE HUMOROUS WAY THE AUTHOR DEALS WITH A VERY REAL SUBJECT... WEIGHT GAIN. I JUST RECENTLY GAINED WEIGHT AND MY BOYFRIEND STILL LOVES ME JUST THE SAME AS HE DID BEFORE I GOT HEAVY. AFTER READING THIS BOOK, I AM TRULY MOTIVATED TO EXERCISE AND GET ON THE RIGHT TRACK. THANK YOU FOR THIS VERY INSPIRATIONAL STORY ABOUT LOVE, FRIENDSHIP AND SELF CONTROL. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK...CAN'T WAIT FOR YOUR NEXT BOOK.

Summary: A real funny story with some very real moments.
Review: I love Van Whitfield's writing style. "Something's Wrong With Your Scale!" is a funny book with some real issues about being over weight that are taken seriously. I shared this book with my teenage daughter. I read it first and had a hard time not giving away parts of the book before she finished. This book has lots of comedy in it that just makes you laugh out loud. While my daughter was reading the book and laughing I would say where are you now? She would say "eating the cheese cake" or "in the restaurant" or "at the mail box" and we would look at each other and laugh. I had so much fun sharing this book with my daughter. We can't wait for the next book. We have our own little book club going now.

Summary: The title says it all
Review: I purchased Something's wrong with your scale, in an airport before a long day of travel. The title caught my eye, because, as a woman who has been thin to "average" weight all my life. I do know the pain of the "have you gained weight"? question. I was completely entertained by the humorous way the lessons were taught in this book.. keep up the good work

Summary: SOMETHING'S WRONG WITH SOMETHING'S WRONG
Review: After reading "Beeperless Remote" and loving it thoroughly, I couldn't wait to read "Something's Wrong With Your Scale." In the beginning the story seemed interesting but I believe the constant references to losing weight, fat jokes, etc., began to weigh on me (no pun intended). I guess I just couldn't get into the character of Sonny Walker and his friend Kayla. I just couldn't get with it. Fortunately I did complete the whole book but it really didn't do anything for me. Some parts were funny but I guess I kept comparing it to the wonderful "Beeperless Remote." But I haven't given up hope. I still love Van's style of writing and look forward to other books that he writes.

Summary: Deliciously Funny and Breezy!
Review: Van Whitfield has written a delightfully funny story about a friendship between two overweight persons who find comfort in each other and in food as they struggle to win the battle of the bulge. You will find yourself laughing out loud and cheering them on as they cope with issues not only surrounding their weight problem, but the insensitivity of their so-called friends.

Summary: Funny, Funny, Funny
Review: The title caught my eye at the bookstore. I loved this funny and witty romantic comedy. I found myself laughing out loud while reading this book. Once I started reading I couldn't stop. I am still laughing at the scene at Leon's. Sonny and Kayla are good for each other. I give Kayla thumbs up for being positive and loving herself dispite her size. The bird was hilarious. Van good luck. Be Blessed!

Summary: OUTSTANDING, COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN
Review: I could not put this book down. It was very true life. Since I have the same problem of being overweight, I could truly relate. I believe this books does two things: 1) Gives people hope that they can find a true relationship based on themselves and what they offer instead of looking at a persons size; and, 2) People should look at overweight people differently. That they are bright, intelligent and fun.

Summary: A great way to learn a huge lesson!
Review: I really enjoyed reading "Something's Wrong With Your Scale." Mr. Whitfield has managed to teach us lessons about weight, prejudice and love all in one novel. I especially loved the humor, which took the edge off of the lessons without being preachy. Great work Van, I can't wait to see the movie and can't wait for more novels from you, a talented, gifted writer!

Summary: OUTSTANDING!! - A MUST READ FOR ALL!!
Review: Like Beeperless Remote, Something's Wrong With Your Scale is hilarious - laugh out loud funny throughout. But that's where the similarities end. This book is so unlike Van's first book. He has really grown-up. There is a level on sensitivity and insight that I didn't expect from a Van Whitfield book. And although this is told from a male point of view, the female character in the book easily has the strongest and most lasting voice - besides the bird, of course! I am happy to have read this book and appreciate and thoroughly respect the way Van presented a book about overweight people that is incredibly funny, but does not make fun of them. Everyone needs to read this book. You will laugh, cry and actually get hungry because of the many descriptions of food and the scenes involving eating.

Two Spoons Up!

This one's a winner.

Summary: I Loved It!!!
Review: This book was great! I actually laughed out loud several times. Of course this book will not solve anyone's deep seated eating disorders but it sure made me laugh. The bird was hilarious although I know birds can't talk like that. This book is like a sit-com: its just comedy!
