Summary: This is the funniest book I've read in a long, long time!
Review: Aside from being very funny, this book tells a story that I can relate to, a weight struggle. Sonny, an overweight yet very sensitive brother, meets Kayla, a sistah who really has it going on but uses food to find comfort. They click, but he truly has issues with her eating habits. In the end they both find each other and true happiness. I would recommend this book to anyone!

Summary: I can't go into Sports Authority without thinking about Van
Review: This book was so funny! My husband even enjoyed this book and he never reads ficition. Every time I go into Sports Authority, I think about something in this book, especially trying to keep the ball section straight. This book expores, in a funny manner, the sad side of being overweight and the struggles of losing weight. I really enjoyed it. Again, this was a light comedy with some LAUGH OUT LOUD moments.

Summary: Van should keep his day job!
Review: I found it hard to get into this book. There was poor character development, and the message was entirely lots because of it. It appears that he hurriedly wrote the book to capitalize on the popularity of his first book, which I enjoyed. The attempts at humor were very poor. I struggled through this book, and I was glad when it was over!

Summary: Situations are extreme, message is heartfeltly meant.
Review: I am an overweight, educated, black male. I can truely identify with Sonny. The situations he presented in the book were extreme, yet funny. Reminded me of times being on a plane or working with children and the things some of them say about overweight people. You really can't and shouldn't get to upset.

The book strongly suggest that there are others that are battling to lose weight and keep it off and that gives one the encourgement to again strive for a better lifestyle.

The humor with the other charaters was also really enjoyed and appreciated.

Summary: Accurate, Impressive and Wonderfully Written!!
Review: "Something's Wrong With Your Scale" was an awesome read!! It was funny, yet sensitive and it dealt with the issues that overweight people deal with on a daily basis. As an avid reader, I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Van Whitfield is doing just as an author should...getting better with every book...I cannot "weight" until the next one!!

Summary: Funny! Entertaining
Review: This was the first time that I read any of Van Whitfield's books. It was funny, entertaining and at times, sad. Sometimes when we see people who are overweight, we tend to automatically assume that they just don't care about themselves, but Van Whitfield gives us the "real deal" on what it's like. Go on Mr. Whitfield, keep us laughing and informed.

Summary: Okay.
Review: The book was okay and had me laughing. But the only people I would be able to recommend it to would be the thin ones! Like the Nutty Professor, I think overweight people would have a problem with his humor!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent Book.
Review: I could hardly put this book down, it was so good. His descriptions were very good. The book made me laugh a lot. I look forward to the next novel.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: ONE OF THE WORST BOOKS I'VE EVER READ!
Review: Van Whitefield has a long way to go. In this novel the subject matter is poor, his characters are not interesting, and they are poorly developed. Van needs to take lessons from Eric Jerome Dickey.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Pretty Interesting
Review: I really enjoyed this book. It focused on a totally different aspect of relationships that not many authors care to touch. I have one problem however, with Whitfield's books: Why do the main male characters tend to be so vulnerable and allow themselves to be pushed around constantly by others? At least in this book, Sonny finally built up some strength in the end. A change would be nice.
