Summary: What do you get when you cross COMEDY and ROMANCE...
Review: ...you get a romantic comedy written by Van Whitfield. From page one, you don't know whether to cry or laugh so be prepared to laugh until you cry.

Mr. Whitfield takes a subject that many people are very sensitive about and sheds new light on it. We can either change or accept ourselves the way we are.

Hopefully, others will learn an important lesson from this book also, which is let's not judge from the outside, but from the inside. For many tried to judge Kayla (strong female character), but they misjudged her, with all her confidence and strength.

A good read

Summary: Hilarious
Review: This is the funniest book that I have read in a long time. I could not put the book down and found myself laughing out loud at some of the hilarious scenes that took place in the various chapters. Although being overweight is a serious matter, Mr.Whitfield did an excellent job of seeing the humor in it. Hats off for giving Sonny the will power to loose weight thus allowing him to maintain his confidence and self dignity.

Summary: I laughed until I cryed
Review: Van Whitfield, this book was too funny. The cover cost my eye. Because I'm a full figured woman I could relate with some of the issues that Kayla and Sonny faced. Kayle was a CONFIDENT FULL FIGURED WOMEN. Van, I wish the best. Be Blessed.

Summary: The Book is O.K., but it has a lot of stereotypes
Review: The book had it's funny points, however, it was riddled with stereotypical characters. For example, all the fat people constantly thought about food, and when they did get some, they ate enormous amounts; educated people were obnoxious; slender women thought they were better than fat women; and, no man (even a fat one) in his right mind would be interested in a fat woman, among other stereotypes. Parts of the book seemed rushed. I think Mr. Whitfield should have "slowed his roll" in parts of the book.

Summary: Funny! Funny! Funny! Funny! Funny! and more Funny!
Review: This is one funny book. I laughed from the beginning to the end. There were some poignant points in the plot, but they weren't so heavy as to ruin the book. I'm now looking forward to reading more from Van Whitfield.

Summary: Nothing's Wrong With THIS Scale - Delicious!!
Review: Loved this book. LOVED IT! I see that Mr. Whitfield is now writing for a TV show (Grown Ups with Jaleel "Urkel" White) and that show is on par with his book. I can't wait for the movie. Queen Latifah would make a great Kayla!

Summary: LAUGHING OUT LOUD
Review: I enjoyed this book like a big old chocolate ice cream sunday --- good to the last drop. Between laughing out loud and getting hungry, I could not put the book down.

I liked the idea that the hero wasn't all buffed and fine, did not have a great job and dealt with real issues. Refreshing and different, this book was a breath of fresh air in the world of "been there, done that" fiction. Kudo to you Mr. Whitfield. I'm looking forward to many more.

Summary: Moderate - Lukewarm
Review: The book was moderate, somewhat entertaining. Sonny weakness displayed low-self esteem and self pity. It was like reading a book about an over-weight man with romance problems.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: An okay book
Review: I couldn't really get into this book. I can sympathize with Sonny and all the overweight people. I went from a size 16 to a size 9. But all the food that was talked about, made me lose interest.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Get real
Review: This book was about a man who was obsessed with food. I could not get into the plot because there was so much food being thrown around. Don't waste your time
