Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: I liked the plot. Review: I like to read books with the same characters. I read SMOLDERING first and then The Captain's Fund. I found The Captain's Fund to be quick and easy to read. I like action. I've been to St Maarten. The discription of the island was wonderful. I know exactly where Friar's Bay is. Character development between the two books is good.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Good weekend book - Read both by Harris Review: I read SMOLDERING first then The Captain's Fund. Truthfully, I liked SMOLDERING better. This book took a little longer to get into the story, but once I got past page 60, it really was non-stop. I like books that carry the same characters.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: I read both books by Harris Review: I read both books and liked the characters. The books were easy to read without having to keep notes about what was happening. Harris doesn't get bogged in too much detail and stays on track with the action.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Great Vacation Read Review: The Captain's Fund is a fast paced book that keeps you attention. I would recommend it to someone who is looking for a good book to sit on the beach and relax with.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: I liked both books Review: I read The Captain's Fund in an afternoon and read Smoldering the next day. The characters are strong and beliveable. The book is not bogged down in too much detail - it's fast paced and interesting.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: The book was fast paced. Review: The Captain's Fund was fast paced. I look for books I can pick up and put down without having to re-read to find out where I am. I usually don't stray from my favorite authors, but in this case I'm glad I did.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Enjoyed the book Review: I thought the beginning was a little slower than I liked...I find myself thinking that even with the well known authors. Once I got into the book I couldn't put it down. I'm planning to read Smoldering.Since I visited St Maarten and spent time on Simpson Bay, I liked how the area was described. I don't think you'll be disappointed with this one.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Badly - very badly - written Review: Well, other reviewers say the plot was good. Perhaps it was. Personally, I couldn't get past the author's lack of basic grammar and the editor/proofreader's lack of ability. I had to give up after about 20 pages because the writing was quite simply the worst I have read outside of my high school students' creative writing efforts.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: So good you can't put it down. Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is fun and easy to read. The characters were interesting and believable, the story kept moving and held my interested. There were no slow or boring parts, I couldn't put the book down. I personally liked the fact is was in a local setting. I found myself cheering for the "good guys". A great murder mystery with lots of twists and turns. As a friend suggested it will make a great movie. Great for a vacation or business trip.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: A good mystery Review: Well, I'm a guy, so the biggest mistake I think Ms. Harris makes is in allowing her novel to be billed as a Romance Mystery. A guy (myself included) reads that, and figures "chick book" right away. I found this not to be the case. It takes only a short time for this book to grab hold of the reader, and by the time I was about half-way through, it became one of those books that I had to finish before I could get on with the rest of my life. The chapters are short enough to keep the book moving, and be concise, but not so short as to become confusing and annoying (yes, I'm talking about Tom Clancy here). I recommend the book to anyone wanting a good easy-to-read mystery, with believable, likable characters, but not heavy on the "romance". Good work, Ms. Harris--I look forward to reading another.
