Summary: A charming & romantic (!) romance between friends
Review: Sydney Travers is an independent and successful veterinarian who wants a baby to make her life complete. She doesn't want or need a man around because they've only caused her heartache and decides to become artificially inseminated. After her procedure she is emotionally strung out and ends up in bed with her best friend Derek. They proceed to act out of character and have unprotected sex three times which, of course, sets up the conflict when Sydney becomes pregnant. Before they became intimate Derek had been working up the nerve to tell Sydney that he was in love with her but held his tongue fearing he would lose her friendship. When her pregnancy is confirmed he doesn't care that the baby may not be his and proposes marriage. She does care and flatly refuses. Derek, a scientist, then decides to "woo" her using a scientific approach that has some funny results. During his "wooing" Derek proves to be a loving, patient and very persistent guy and I was rooting for him all the way. Sydney takes the "men are scum" bit too far, especially when it is revealed that they've been best friend's for twenty-two years but it was fun watching Derek attempt to win his woman. I really enjoyed The Seduction of Sydney. It was entertaining, sexy and satisfying and because it was obvious that the couple enjoyed being together and had much more in common than a simple case of lust. And, best of all, it was exactly what a romance should be: romantic!

Review: Synopsis: For weeks, Derek Buchanan has been trying to tell gorgeous leggy pal Sydney Travers that he loves her but just doesn't get it done. Instead he is holding her hand through a string of disastrous blind dates. Until he decides to bring her to the logical conclusion that she can't live without him. This book was awesome. I started to read it last night and couldn't put it down. I had to finish it right away. As a result I went to bed at 1:30 even though I had to work today. But it was worth it! From page one I knew this was going to be a keeper. Very sexy, very funny plus an original plot. I can't recommend it highly enough!

Sydney's story is fast-paced, sensual, humorous and compelling - not to mention hot! (It is a Blaze story, after all! ) Temptation readers, and all readers of spicy contemporaries, will really enjoy it.Derek Buchanan has been best friends with Sydney Travers nearly all his life and has been in love with her for longer than he can remember. But the logical and scientific professor cannot communicate his feelings to Sydney and watches her go on one disastrous blind date after another, praying she doesn't find a man more perfect for her than he is. What Derek doesn't know is that Sydney is not really looking for Mr Right for herself, she's interviewing prospective fathers for the baby she is desperate to have. When Sydney gives up on the men she's been dating, she decides to pick a pop in a test tube and gets artificially inseminated. However, once the procedure is over, her calm, cool and professional veneer crumbles and she ends up sobbing in Derek's arms. One thing leads to another and they have a wonderful night of hot sex. Derek thinks this is the beginning of their wonderful relationship leading to marriage. Sydney is worried how to tell Derek, without losing her best friend, that she plans to marry no one and by the way, she's pregnant and he might be the father. Jamie does a great job of creating a true friendship between these two before and after the temperature rises with their passionate love-making. Derek's scientific approach to winning his bride, including the man-on-the-street interviews and the extensive research, lead to very funny scenes of typical male blunders. Sydney is a strong, independent, intelligent woman - my favorite kind of heroine. Although she gave a mistake in her past too much influence over her life choices, she learns to trust her heart and Derek. The chemistry between these two is great and their friendship is so believable, I can see them having a long and happy life together. Especially if you are a fan of steamy contemporaries, don't let this one get away!
