Summary: A great culmination of a good series
Review: Ms. Poore definitely finishes her "Miss Sydney" series off with a bang! (Previous books are "The Brighton Burgler," "The Secret Scroll," and "The Cairo Cats.") This time, Miss Sydney is off to Egypt to discover the land her father loved. The characters are again wonderful, and the detail and vivid imagery surpass any of the previous books. Even the romance and sexual tension are evident and well done.

I might have given the book 5 stars except for two problems. First, Ms. Poore drops a significant part of the mystery midway through the book (I don't want to give too much away). Second, the climax and ending are too abrupt. There is an exciting pace set and within 10 pages, the whole thing is wrapped up tight. Wham, bam, thank you, mam.

However, read the previous books and happily end on this one. This book definitely is the best one of the series and leaves us with a good feeling and some unforgettable characters.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: This book started out really good, but from there it was rather blah and pointless. Roxanne is so thoughtless and spoiled and doesn't seem concerned or realize that her stubborness gets everyone around her into trouble. Also the Mummy's Mirror title is inacurate, for there was an egyptian mirror in the story but I don't remember it being mentioned as a mummy's mirror. The main plot that was concerned with finding a jeweled papyri box was a disappointment. It turned out to be rather common and after this it seemed a stupid goal for so many people to get killed and hurt in the process just so the villian could find it. There were so many loose endings that were never tied up as well, and several pointless characters filling the book. And it seemed that everyone in the story was as dense as concrete blocks, for they couldn't even put the most obvious facts together. The end was romantic enough and satisfying after spanning three previous books.
