Summary: A real character - then you had to go and spoil everything!
Review: I identified so strongly with the lead character, Cecily. The story was wonderful and I connected with the local scene of Atlanta, Georgia. I have but one problem. We were so into the character - then up pops the cliches of Cecily having the perfect "look" - now, why did you have to go and spoil everything? It was nice to have a character we can relate to as real women (financially despondent, etc.) and we hear Cecily described (numerously) as beautiful, perky, petite, blonde, etc. Next time, Karen, really blow our minds and create a character that is REAL and still wins our hearts. How about a little cellulite, a large rear end? Pasty white skin? Clever writing about the financial situation, all the same. I'd buy another book. Please, are you listening to me? How about a leading character that is not a size 4?

Review: I WAS ACTUALLY SMILING AND LAUGHING OUT LOUD WHILE READING THIS BOOK.... I LOVE WITTY AS OPPOSED TO SYRUPY-STICKY-SWEET ROMANCE BOOKS. I WASN'T REAL THRILLED WITH CECILY AT FIRST, BUT SHE EVENTUALLY EVOLVED INTO A REAL WOMAN. A GOOD READ ALL AROUND.

Summary: 'Something About Cecily' is sassy, sexy and satifying!
Review: If you've ever hit that personal low, in romance or in life in general, 'Something About Cecily' will have you back on your feet in no time. It's hip and hilarious and I hated for it to end. Karen Kendall does a terrific job with her heroine Cecy, a REAL woman with a few funny flaws--don't we all have those? One of the best I've read in a long time.

Review: It was a great read from the first page. The characters are likable and seem more realistic than in many books I read. This was fun and entertaining and had really witty one-liners. If you just want to kick back and enjoy some escapeism this is the book.

Cecily is not a quirky, ditzy free-spirit, but a woman just set loose after caring for her sick brother. Once loose, however, she gets into all kinds of trouble, compounded by her connection to the square and practical Chas. Laughs abound when she destroys his office, his car, puts him in the hospital, and then moves in with him.

Summary: A whimsical romantic comedy ith serious undertones
Review: Used to having a golden spoon, Cecily Scatterton finds herself without a penny, any food in her home for her or her cat, and the rent and car payments are past due. When she slips and injures her nose, Cecy goes to the nearby hospital for treatment after mixing painkillers with alcohol. However, when she is unable to pay her $210 ER tab, a sexy hunk offers to pay her tab if she provides him with typing assistance. Desperate Cecy agrees to fill in for financial planner Chas Buchanan while his assistant is away.

Cecy and her cat move into Chas' office to live unbeknownst to the boss. Meanwhile Chas lusts after his new assistant, but she does not fit into own life plan. Still, he finds himself falling in love and Cecy does too, but she is irresponsible nouveau poor and he is ultra responsible leaving little commonality at least on the surface for a relationship.

SOMETHING ABOUT CECILY is an amusing contemporary romance with a serious undertone involving terrible financial management. The story line is humorous as Cecy struggles with the lack of cash and any hope out of her debacle yet still provides a lesson on fiscal responsibility. The lead couple is a charming delight though Chas' consistent adherence to his in cement plan seems out of character for someone who understands strategic goals. The author shows talent, as her debut will have the audience say that there is something about Karen Kendall.
