Rating: Summary: Decently enjoyable . . . Review: I had this book laying around for a while and finally decided to give it a read. I was looking for something short that wouldn't take up a lot of my time. I found that, but I found so much more in Lindsay McKenna's _Point of Departure_. I'm not one who usually expects a lot out of a Harlequin novel, but I was pleasantly surprised when I found out this book was not fluff and had some substance. The characters were charming, if a bit too clingy at times. Callie Donovan is a Navy Lieutenant who has had all sorts of problems from men in the naval force, she is strong in a sense but quite harried and fragile. Ty Ballard is a fine example of a Naval officer -- gallant, brave and determined. They work well together, each drawing strength from the other and growing mutually. Sometimes their emotions are unstable and almost dizzying and trying to follow the flow of their feelings will seem like a roller-coaster ride at times. They are like a couple of kids experiencing love for the first time -- it's sweet and endearing. But, what was most memorable about this book for me was the military aspect of the story. I've not seen many books that utilize the Navy or other armed forces as settings and it was an agreeable change. This book deals with sexual harassment and I feel the author handled the subject well. The circumstances were believable, heartbreaking and eye-opening. _Point of Departure_ was a pleasant interlude that I'd recommend to anyone looking for a good, quick read.
Rating: Summary: Storyline info Review: Point of Departure (Silhouette Special Edition #853) That Special Woman by Lindsay McKenna A woman in uniform had to be tough. But to face down a naval commander intent on harrassing her out of the ranks,Lt. Callie Donovan needed more than moxie. She needed a miracle... Top Gun Ty Ballard, assigned to represent Callie in a military Board of Inquiry, was no miracle worker. But having seen the stark vulnerability shadowing Callie's azure eyes - and knowing it had been put there by predatory jet jocks just like him - he prayed he'd prove man enough to stand by this brave, beautiful woman in blue.
