Rating: Summary: Great combination of Americana and western romance Review: Five years ago, Duston Bennett and Cassandra Rakefield made love the night before their wedding. The next day, the groom stood the bride up at the altar. After a restless night fighting his own conscience, Dustin decided that he could not marry her just to complete his father's scheme of keeping her large trust fund as a "client" of their law firm. She does not realize that he acted nobly, but did believe he did not care enough for her at all. Now her Wyoming ranch is in financial trouble and she needs to borrow from her trust fund. Cassandra is dismayed when the law firm sends a representative out to ascertain if her ranch needs the $25,000 she has requested. She becomes irate when she learns that Dustin is the agent visiting her. She becomes disgusted when she realizes that her feelings for Dustin remain strong. With her home and livelihood at stake, Cassandra knows that she must act with tolerance and discretion even though he could easily break her heart again. In this rousing spin-off of JULIANA, Gloria Dale Skinner presents her audience with another heart-warming Americana novel that wrenches at the reader's heart. CASSANDRA is filled with action as one incident after another draws the protagonists together. However, the story is also a beautiful introspective mood piece that bares open the souls of the two lead characters. The audience feels their pain, fear, and love and root for them to find a way to make a life together. Ms. Skinner demonstrates that she is climbing the ladder to the top of the profession.
