Summary: Intriguing historical novel, engaging and pleasant writing.
Review: "He means to hang you at sunrise. They have already built the gallows." "The guard very kindly told me that they were building them, but I took that to mean that your brother intended to be prepared for the day in case we had a storm. Surely, you are mistaken about his intent to hang me tomorrow. By my calculation, tomorrow is Sunday. Would he hang a man on the Sabbath?" Grimly, she retorted. "Do you want to wager your life he will not?" He was silent. The only sound was the rattle of the keys as she continued to search for the keyhole. Janet Graham proved a faithful and devoted mistress to her brother-- Sir Hugh Graham's home in England. But when her brother captures the infamous Rabbie Redcloak and sentences him to die without a proper trial, she cannot stand by and let injustice be done. Summary: A book with pages of print but not worthy plot
Review: After reading "flying star" review about this author AND this book I decided I couldn't go wrong and I purchased it. But i didn't get any farther than maybe 150 pages. But I really couldn't go any farther because the book could not hold my interest. Basically up to that point in the book the hero and heroine were forced to marry because they'd traveled unchaperoned across the border. I stopped for many reasons. Initially I wanted to quit after the first chapter because it was SO boring, it was all historical background and things that were way too deep to begin the book with. A write should never EVER bombard their readers with loads of facts, they should deliver them periodically through out the story. After gett through the first chapter and then some, I thought the book was getting better because the characters seemed to be fleshing out. But after the whole "being alone with no chaperone" indicdent I felt that the characters immediately lost their flare and thus I lost all good reason to read the book. I ended up exchanging it at a second hand book store for another book which I enjoyed MUCH MUCH better. Word of the Wise -- Don't waste your money on this one. Pass it and you'll miss out on nothing.Rating - 2.9

Summary: Very Good Book!
Review: Amanda Scott has written a great book in Border Fire. I enjoyed it very much. It definitely reminds me of some of her earlier historical novels. The characters have a great checmistry as well.
