Summary: I love the character of Jason!
Review: I bought this book because I was lucky enough to know Jason, who is featured in the book during his troubled adolescent years. However he is now a striking symbol of male sexuality whose rugged good looks broken many a heart since I've known him....especially mine. Read this book.

Summary: Disappointment
Review: I bought this book because it was featured on Oprah.com. It is a let-down. Sure, the book focuses on how marriages go through ups and downs, but it becomes tiresome, what with the repetition on the same problems, and the idealistic reconciliation that seems forged, or at least exaggerated for the sake of selling more books perhaps.

Actually, every marriage goes through bad patches. The bottom line is to rise above everything and focus on the good stuff that make you love each other in the first place. I personally find it hard to believe that the wife forgave the husband so readily the two times he cheated on her. What about feelings of mistrust, bitterness before hitting forgiveness?

Summary: a great read
Review: i dont have alot too say about this masterpiece of modern literature but i was truly compelled by the lagarennes younger son eric who seems to be a truly wonderful person as well as a sensitive jock. i also am pleased to see that the older brother rose from a gutter drinking crackhead monster to a fine young citizen. the story of the lagarennes is one everyone should experience and revel over. the book truly provides a ray of hope to all struggling couples.

Summary: The end didn't do justice to the very real story
Review: There is some gritty, real life experiences and struggles well portrayed in this book. Even though I didn't agree with some of the decisions they made along the way, the first two-thirds of this book had me hooked. But, then the end fell to a series of overly syrupy dialogue. I have trouble believing real people would really say such contrived, dramatic speeches--at least so many. If this is what they really said, I think maybe it was idealized a bit. I am glad they found happiness, but was disappointed in how it was portrayed and the lack of respect I was given as a reader, to have the author think I would just oooh and aaah and cry over this ultra-romantic ending.

Summary: Lovely!
Review: This book is, in one word- lovely! The character development which occurs throughout the book is amazing, and although I didn't trust all of the sappy dialogue, I attribute that to Caroline Upcher, not the Lagarenne's touching tale. ... Lovely!
