Summary: Not Impressed
Review: I must say having read the predecessor, The Scotsman's Lady, I was looking forward to this book. Unfortunately I was somewhat disappointed. Cassie seemed shallow, gullible, and envious. Ramsay was calculating, manipulative, and ruthless. First he bribes her fiancee to jilt her, then he arranges for footpads to accost her so he could "rescue" her. All this so he could scare her father into selling him a piece of land that once belonged to his family, and which is a bone of contention between his clan, the Forbes, and the McKensies, Cassie's twin's betrothed clan.

I found this book sadly lacking, Cassie seemed to have so much potential in her sister's book it was disappointing to see that she never reached it.

Summary: Unpredictable lady rescued by mysterious champion.
Review: When Ramsay Forbes engineers the end of the betrothal of Cassandra St. John and Dudley Moncreff, he feels that victory for the Forbes clan is eminent. Instead of crying, she leaves.

As Cassie leaves the building, she decides to walk home. The decision seems rational enough until she is accosted by street beggars. Suddenly a champion appears and scares off her attackers. He introduces himself as Lord Ravencliff and escorts her home.

Lord Ravencliff is one of Ramsay Forbes' titles. He doesn't reveal his full identity to Cassie yet. The plan to regain possession of Glen Gray isn't all in place. Once it is, he will reveal all. Of course, for any plan to be executed perfectly everyone must perform predictably, and Cassie is anything but predictable as Ramsay soon discovers.

Linda Madl's newest romance depicts the world of feuding clans vividly. Ramsay, a man torn between clan loyalty and true love, is right on target as is Cassie as the wildly unpredictable St. John twin. Too bad the story is predictable, however, giving a strange sense of deja vu.
