Summary: A Very Sensual Read!!!
Review: I read this book several years ago and just picked it up for a re-read while I was traveling. This book was even better the second time around and felt compelled to share my thoughts with fellow Amazon.com readers. The characters are great and the chemistry between Sarah and Stephen is in a word Explosive. Sarah has been forced into the life of a courtesan in order to care for and protect her daughter. Before she knows it she has stepped out of the frying pan and into the fire when she is accused of poisoning one of her protectors. Now the brother of said murdered victim is out to make Sarah pay. He wants her to suffer like she has never suffered before. Stephen is the Duke of Whitbury and he has finally tracked down the person he holds responsible for his brothers death. Problem though is he is physically drawn to Sarah and now he questions whether he will be able to follow through with his plans and send her to the gallows like she deserves. Or will he turn protector and care for her and her daughter? What will happen to these two very different but strong people who find love in the most unlikely place? Ms. Lindsey is a wonderful author and I look forward to reading her again in the future. This is a very sensual read but the storyline is not sidelined for thrills. I highly recommend Ms. Lindsey as an author to pick up and one to watch in the future.

Summary: Desiree has no idea what Romance is.
Review: I wrote a review before but I guess sensorship got in the way. This author should be pitied for her lack of Romance. I find this happening more and more these days. Maybe it is a generation thing but this book was beyond hideous. There is no hero no heroine, no story. Put simply, is the written form of hard porn. The scenes she calls erotica are anything but. Sorry Desiree but maybe you should seek other avenues, obviously writing is not your thing or at least not the Romance line.

Summary: The ultimate sin - it's boring
Review: Purporting to be a hot romance, bordering on erotica, this novel (I am being generous in using this term) lacks understandable motivation, characterization, atmosphere, believability, and historical accuracy. And it's badly written, as well. The heroine (?) is accused of poisoning a man. By pouring the contents of a "vile" in his wine glass. Once is a typo. Repeated use of the wrong words (this is but one example) is simply lack of editorial control. Not surprising that it appears to be self-published - no self-respecting publisher would have accepted this drivel for publication. The one star rating is just to avoid it being unrated. I strongly recommend that lovers of historical romance, historical erotica, and good writing avoid this book.

Review: This is definitely a dark book. The hero is drvien to punish the women that he thinks poisoned his beloved brother. He is, however, drawn to this very same women. He gradually comes to realize that she could not have poisoned his brother. She has been abused and degraded my her uncle and doesn't trust any man. She can't remember the night the Duke's brother was poisoned, but she feels she wouldn't do something so evil. The forces that work against these two people and dark and minicing. The last few chapters will probably require kleenex close by it did for me.

Summary: what could have been a great love story...
Review: turned out to be a painful and abusive dud. When I first picked up the book I was really excited. I felt for the heroine because she was in an abusive relationship and it was obvious that she wanted a better life for herself. As I read on, in steps darkly handsome Stephen, accusing her of poisoning his brother and wisks her off to his home to avenge his brother. What turns out to be a revenge plot turns into lust and want between the two characters and they declare their love. The gang rape and the hero "prostituting" himself in the name of love left me cold and disappointed because what could have been a grand romance turned out to be a pathetic, twisted mish mash that made the hero and heroine totally unbelievable. The ending would have been kleenex worthy had the middle of the book been presented better.
