Summary: well, okay...
Review: actually the book is more than okay, i guess. i really love the science fiction part, the sword with a housed entity, a flying, homing creature...very creatively illustrated. the only problem is the story line. it's SOOOOO predictable. i know how the book will end way before i got through halfway.

Review: BENEATH A CRIMSON MOON Christine Michels Lovespell, Apr 1997, $5.50 Thadonia has allegedly become a hot bed for stolen Earth weapons. Sotah warrior Singai realizes that the smuggling of the illegal weapons has in deed occurred and is determined to learn who is behind the smuggling. The next stop in her investigation is the Kazerian Empire where she is to be escorted by a Fortuna Guardian, Quinn. On the trip to Kazeria, Singai learns that the smuggling is a minor part of a much greater conspiracy. The ancient foes of the Sotah, the Dalig guild, want to retake all they once lost and more by reestablishing their former dominion. They will do anything to succeed, including the destruction of an empire. Singai needs to persuade Quinn to help her avert the potential menace. If the star-crossed (in a literal sense) couple are triumphant, they may find time to explore their growing love for each other. Christine Michels adds her rising star to the highest levels of the celestial sub-genre of science fiction romance with her latest novel, BENEATH A CRIMSON MOON. Summary: I liked it!
Review: I think it deserves a better rating than some other reviewers gave it. The story was good and flowed well. I am not bothered by perfect accuracy when the characters are this entertaining and it was believeable enough to be enjoyable. I would read it again.

I only wish there had been an epilogue. :)

Review: This book was a little weak in both the plot line and the flow of the story. The whole casting off the second twin and then having to bring her back because the other is dying is kind of a little far fetched if you are to believe the time frame when this story takes place. For a civilization that can travel the stars to still be practicing this type of backwards ritual is just a little too tough to swallow. The second problem is that the story doesn't flow. The book seems to get stuck on the "ocean voyage" of Singai and Quinn. The fact that they seem to "rescue" each other every other page is also a little old. It is kind of like, how many injuries or illnesses can two people get.

The good part about the book is that the sex if very descriptive, if you like that sort of thing. Singai is also a very strong heroine and is able to mostly defend herself and really help out on the voyage. I thought this book was just a fun, mindless read and am glad that I wasn't rushed when I was reading it. It is definately a book that can be picked up and read at almost any place. Don't feel you have to read this all in one sitting or else you might be bored to tears.
