Rating: Summary: Couldn't get past Colton's and Rini's issues Review: At a summer festival, Katarina "Rini" Herelius falls in love with a disguised Indian warrior. She wants to be with him more than anything, but believes he'll only do to her what her ex-fiance did: cheat on her.
Colton Lonetree didn't expect to find the love of his life at the Cardinal Ranch Powwow, but his encounter with Rini shows him what's been missing from his life. He wants to be with her forever, but she disappears without any explanation.
Six months later, Colton finds Rini at a fellow attorney's office -- pregnant with his child. He assumes she's giving the baby up for adoption, but Rini is only exploring her options.
Through a marriage of convenience, both Colton and Rini learn about themselves -- and each other. There's a strong physical attraction between them which develops into love -- that neither wants to acknowledge because they're afraid of being hurt again. Yet, slowly, each makes an effort to trust.
Stephanie's Review . . .
I was left wanting more with this story.
A pet peeve of mine -- it seems that the internal conflicts between Colton (adopted by a white family, believing he was abandoned by his birth mother, married and divorced at a young age, thus having a fear of rejection) and Rini (rocky relationship with her mother and leaving a womanizing fiance, thus having low self-esteem and a fear of rejection) could have probably easily been talked out. As I read, I just kept asking, "Why don't you two just talk? It's obvious you want each other. Just talk."
I couldn't get past Colton and Rini both being so stubborn. Stubborn to the point of not being willing or wanting to work through their issues. They both want each other to understand, but they refuse to make the effort themselves.
Rating: Summary: A Night To Remember Review: I have not read Nina Bruhns before, but had heard good things about her writing. So I picked this up and learned that this book had previously won a Golden Heart Award. I felt it would be a good read, and I was not disappointed. It is about a woman recovering from a bad relationship who meets a man in full dress as a warrior at a Powwow. They have a one night stand, and a baby is concieved. He does not learn about the baby until several months later. He is afraid she will give the baby up for adoption, despite her assurances that she will not. He asks her to marry him, for the sake of the child and she reluctantly agrees. Some of the scenes between them are hot, so if you like your romance with a little spice, you will like this. The story was emotional, but not a tear jerker. The hero and heroine had to deal with their past before they could go on with the future. It was told over several months, allowing each character to grow gradually, not suddenly. It was a enjoyable story and I recommend it. I am now in search of Ms. Bruhns' previous book, Catch Me If You Can.
Rating: Summary: Great Story! Review: I really liked Nina Bruhns previous SIM (catch me if you can) and bought this one on the basis of that. It's a very different story but wonderful also. Rini Herelius is trying to recover from the break-up of a relationship that has left her feeling insecure and mistrustful of men. She deceides to go to a Powwow to get away. There she meets a handsome warrior and has a night of incredible (and steamy :) passion. The next day through her mis-understanding of what she sees, she takes off without even giving him her name. Colton Lonetree is a lawyer and Native American who was adopted and has a mistrust of women and being abandoned by them. He searches for Rini but they had never even exchanged names. Through an act of fate he meets up with her and finds she is pregnant with their child. The book is the story of them both learning to trust enough to love. A wonderful story of healing, forgiveness and passion.
Rating: Summary: A sure-fire way to heat up your nights! Review: Recently single, Katarina Herelius came to the Cardinal Ranch Powwow to revel in a life that was finally her own. Going back to school to finish her nursing degree, Rini wasn't interested in looking for a man. But he found her despite her plans... Colton Lonetree, who hails from the Luiseno Indian nation, was attending the powwow to dance the rigorous hoop dance, not expecting to find a woman. But fate conspired against both as they were drawn together for one night of wild and wonderful passion. Rini fled the next morning, after jumping to conclusions and believing that Cole was capable of cheating on her. All this in the first two chapters, and our heroine and hero don't even know the other's name? Goodness, are you in for an intense ride with this story! Chapter three continues our story six months later, with Rini pregnant and on her way to the adoption lawyer's office. Still uncertain as to her course of action, she is seeking more information. Little does she know that her passionate warrior is a lawyer, visiting the office, and happens to catch a glimpse of his "Fire Eyes" woman. Returning to the office, Rini is astonished to learn that her lover in a loincloth is a lawyer, and intent on being a full-time father to his child. To Cole, this means marriage with a pre-nuptial agreement. In Rini's eyes, a marriage-in-name-only is the way to go. Misconceptions continue, as Rini believes Cole is only after her baby, and Cole's past comes back to haunt him. His first wife left him and his mother gave him up for adoption to a white couple, leading Cole to make the remark that "women always leave me" and not allowing him to be open to the possibility that Rini could be different. Enter Jeff, the fourteen-year-old son of Cole's first wife, who is searching for his father, the introduction of Cole's birth mother, and the stresses of pregnancy, and our couple is continuing down their rocky path. Yet despite their problems, Rini and Cole are able to truly see each other, and grow closer. Once their son, Chance, arrives, the barriers between them are further broken down and they are able to live as a true husband and wife. But things don't end here! Cole realizes that he loves Rini, but cannot allow himself to admit it to her, as that would be exposing his very soul. Rini admits that she doesn't want to leave him, but does not say she will never leave him. Trust is a major factor with our main characters, and Ms. Bruhns does a credible job of making the reader emphasize with the pair, and struggle along with them. This is an emotionally stunning story of a woman's search for herself and the man she was meant to find along the way. Even the smallest of elements are woven together, creating the exquisite tapestry that is WARRIOR'S BRIDE. Skilled wordsmith Nina Bruhns allows the reader to delve deep within the characters to find what makes them tick and their motivations for their actions. Each has to overcome their past and their problems with their own family history in order to forge a healthy, happy and loving environment for themselves and their son. I hope you will clear an afternoon to read WARRIOR'S BRIDE, and I know you will not regret it! Destined to be a reader-favorite, Nina Bruhns will not disappoint even the pickiest reader with the powerful WARRIOR'S BRIDE. --Julie Shininger for Escape to Romance Reviews
Rating: Summary: Passionate and full of heart. Review: This book showed moving, vulnerable, loving passion just the way romantic readers love it. A great author!
Rating: Summary: Warrior's Bride Review: This is an unusual and poignant love-story of two people who fall in love at first sight, are forced apart, then meet again and begin the tortuous path back to love. On first reading, one finds the story so well-written that one quickly begins to feel surprisingly deeply involved. More careful reading, however, reveals the depth of Ms Bruhns's writing: The hero, Cole, is a Native American, adopted as a baby by a white couple. In spite of the love shown him by his adoptive parents, he has never quite got over feeling rejected by his birth-mother. Ms. Bruhns describes so well - and makes us feel for Cole - how his early sense of rejection colours all his present-day life. At a pow-wow, Cole meets Rini, recovering from an affair with a despicable womanizer; there is an instant attraction between the two. After Rini watches Cole do his hoop-dance in Native regalia, they meet outside his lodge, and thus begins their night of love, described most sensitively and lyrically. Trust me, you will fall in love with Cole! The next morning, when Cole leaves for the dance-circle, Rini promises to meet him there. When she sees him surrounded by charming young Native women, her lack of self-esteem makes her flee, instead of waiting for Cole to notice her and come to her. Later, we find Rini, 6 months pregnant, at the office of an adoption attorney. Cole, a lawyer, sees her there and, realizing she is pregnant with HIS child, reacts furiously, demanding his child, as he does not want it to suffer, as he did, from being adopted. Rini, unfairly judging Cole by her despicable ex-boy-friend's standards, is equally furious with him, still believing he flirted with the young women. Ms. Bruhns's great talent as a writer shows itself most clearly in the way she, slowly and beautifully, brings these two antagonists together, and lets us discover and empathize with the deeper reasons for their behaviour toward each other, and how this was shaped by their experiences in the past. This is not merely a "Romance" story, it is a beautifully written book by a major writer, who happens to write most movingly of love. Don't let this one get away! Order it from Amazon NOW!

Rating: Summary: AWESOME!!! Review: Warriors Bride is such a great book!! I have read it twice and love it more each time I read it! Nina Bruhns did a wonderful job writing this. I hope she does a second book so we can find out how Cole, Rini and Chance are doing in their lives.
Rating: Summary: Wow! COLTON LONETREE - WHEREFORE ART THOU? Review: You must know by now by reading the other reviews what the story is about. It was great the way Cole kind of converted Rini's sister Alex finally to appreciate him. Meeting Cole's adopted parents and finding out how loving and wonderful they were and to find that he has a half brother Billy increased his family ties along with his cousins on the Rez. I had full sympathies for Cole's birth mother. Loved meeting her and hearing her story. I was kind of chuckling when Jeff turned up and really appreciated the turn of events his inclusion brought about. Can't say much for Cole's ex-wife though. Selfish little witch, but human. But, Oh boy, if her next story isn't about Cole's best friend, Roman "Renegade" Santangelo I will certainly have a fit. [grin] This was one truly great story -- still can't get over the introduction -- Fantastic! Wow! my kind of Warrior! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED -- Please don't miss it.
