Summary: Best McKenna Yet
Review: " The 'BIG ONE' hits California on New Year's Eve...Hundreds trapped by Quake...For two Marines, lives-and-love-are on the line...Racing against time to save victims in a ravaged, burning city, golden boy Lt. Wes James discovered an angel in diguise: plain-Jane rescue worker Lt. Callie Evans, who defied death to dif survivors from the rubble. Amid the hellish wreckage, her blue eyes shone with inspiring hope. Her innocence and valor moved the unshakable Marine, and she blossomed into a beauty beneath his protective gaze. Still, past pain kept Wes from surrendering his closely guarded heart. But he ached to make Callie more than his comrade-in-arms. He ached to make her his..."

I'm a big fan of McKenna's Glory series, but this book has really turned me back onto the Morgan's Mercenaries again.

This is a book that is still good everytime I read it. I cannot wait until the rest of this series (its a cross-line series for Silhouette) is released!

Summary: Another great read from Lindsay McKenna!
Review: I admit it, over time I've become very picky about the books I read. I buy very few nowadays, and when I do, I want the highest caliber of excellence that I can find in a story. This is why I always buy Lindsay McKenna books, and The Heart Beneath is another great reason why. I can't wait until the next one comes out in this series. Thanks, Lindsay. You NEVER disappoint me!

Summary: Another great read from Lindsay McKenna!
Review: I am a long time Lindsay McKenna fan and have read all of the Morgan's Mercenaries series in addition to anything else she writes. I hope this one was ghost written. First off, after the first chapter, we all know the heroine thinks she is unattractive. It doesn't need to be restated again and again and again - especially in such a lame way with him saying he's attracted and her saying she's couldn't possibly attract him.... This series is usually about men and women dedicated to their jobs (serving their country), willing to sacrafice everything. In this book however, they are flirting etc. while folks are dead and dying in the rubble.

Summary: It was awful!
Review: I loved the original trilogy with Morgan and his siblings, but this book was truly awful. The plot was thin...very thin. The book was repetitive in the extreme. How many times do you have to be told that the roads are out before you get it? Or that food and water are a problem or the numerous other things that were repeated ad nauseum. The characters were paper thin...no depth at all. I cared nothing at all for the characters. I expected better from McKenna. Frankly, this book screams "ghost writer."

Review: I think I am this writer's #1 fan! Love the writer...love the series. I know you will too!

Summary: A Must Read for those who demand quality...this delivers!
Review: I won't even go into what the first two reviewers said...but it's clear that they read a completely different book than I just did. This book is real and gutsy true-to-life, all the way through. Ms. McKenna clearly knows what it is like when people are faced with life and death situations, and how they respond, react, and do their best to hang onto life and the living...and to the things that make life worth fighting for. The romance made sense and was very moving in the midst of truly chaotic events. Anyone who loves Morgan and Laura will be truly touched by their part in the book. But the stars are Wes and Callie. I loved these two characters, and I was rooting for them from the start. They are well-drawn, larger than life in their work but just like you and me in their hearts. My advice? Ignore the first two reviews posted here and find out for yourself why The Heart Beneath is another gem from the McKenna Treasure Chest. Bravo, Ms. McKenna. I look forward to the other books in this series.

Summary: The Heart Beneath
Review: O.K. Military Romance Fans, I am telling you to run not walk to
your favorite bookstore and pickup a copy of "The Heart Beneath".
This book grabbed me emotionally from the git-go, with the love
between Morgan and Laura. Then there is the terrifying emotions
Eileen brings to this story when the earthquake happens. Eileen, described the sounds and destruction so well I could picture it in my minds eye. The suffering of the people and of course Morgan who is searching for Laura. The main characters in this story are Wes and Callie and their romance. Callie believes that
she isn't anything special to look at, but Wes sees her beauty in her heart and goodness. Callie and her dog search the earthquake destroyed buildings to try and find survivors and the
non-survivors. She finds Laura and risks her life to get her to
safety. This is an emotional read, the next book in the series "To Ride The Thunder" is a whopper. While at the store pickup this delicious story as well. It's main characters are Rhona McGregor and Nolan Galway. Ladies I want one of Morgan, one of Wes and finally one of Nolan under my Christmas tree this year. Hope my husband won't mind!
Don't miss any of this series or for that matter the Morgan Mercernaries series either. Happy Reading!!!
