Summary: This is my favorite book - ever!
Review: Kathryn Lynn Davis' lyrical and sumptuous writing style shines more strongly in Too Deep for Tears than in any of her other books. Readers looking for immensely emotional and cathartic prose should get their hands on a copy of this book immediately. The characterizations are exquisite, the descriptions of Scotland, England, India, and China so real you'll feel as though you're there, and the connection you'll feel to the characters and the lands will last long after you've finished the book. Just be sure to have a jumbo-sized box of Kleenex handy - you'll need it.

We've reviewed all three books in this trilogy at All About Romance, and I was lucky enough to interview the author a few years ago. She is an amazing talent.

Summary: From the Scottish moors to exotic China and enticing India!!
Review: One man. Many passions. A flamed-haired daughter dancing bare-foot through the heather-strewn Scottish Highlands, music in her magic ears. A blue-eyed Chinese daughter, with the will of a tiger and eyes she can never lift to see the Imperial Gates of heavenly love. A delicate English rose amidst the oppressive spice-laden air of exotic India. One man. Three daughters. They will sacrifice a lifetime of desires for the sake of a father they never saw. Its hard to forget this book. I read it years ago and yet the characters haunt my dreams. The sights, the smells, the songs! The tragic poignance of love! The amazing freshness of a forest in Scotland, the flash of tartans and leaping over fires in the pagan rites of Beltyne! Sandlewood smoke, willows in the breeze, a quiet opalescent moon and red lantern light ... golden elaborate ornaments, spice-laden elephants and wispy saris ... Three very special dughters in three very special places. Joys and Sorrows ... Too Deep for Tears.

Summary: Keep the Klenex handy! You'll need it for this tear jerker.
Review: The only mistake the author made with this story was putting the best 1/4 of the book first. This book is about a man who fathers three daughters by three different women and his dying wish is to have them all together before he dies so he can paint their portrait. The most emotional part of the story though is the daughter from Ireland who leaves her childhood love to go live in what was once her fathers world of England. She is shunned and teased and triumphs over her pompass critics. Her trials and turmoils make the rest of the book pail in comparison but it is worth it to see how the story ends. I have read this book 3 times and it just keeps getting better. True love, mystery, the works

Summary: This book was heart-wrenching
Review: The story told in this book is one that I will never forget. The three young women in this book are courageous and love with their hearts and their souls. Their stories kept me entranced from cover to cover. For anyone who loves romance stories this is the story for you!

Summary: Too Depressing for Words
Review: This book should come with the warning: "STOP! If you like happy endings". A little bit of angst is one thing but this was just one disaster after another. Not one charactor was spared a maladramatic suicidal situation and it got old quick. I give it two stars because at least it was well written.

Summary: Memorable. Very.
Review: This book stayed with me for a long, long time. ... It was so incredibly excellent, I thought, but I have a friend who didn't like it! So... you must read it for yourself -- it's so worth it.

Summary: Why isn't this book more famous??
Review: This is one of the best books that I've ever read! (And I've read many classics and modern novels.) This book is a beautiful tapestry of stories--infused with such rich emotions and spirituality. I read non-fiction books on Celtic Christianity at the same time which further enhanced my understanding of the Scottish part of the story. Davis is a wonderful writer-- I believe she's also a History professor at one of the UCs.

Summary: A difficult review to write..............
Review: To write a review on this book is difficult for me because I had so many mixed feelings toward this group of stories. Book one was undoubtedly my favorite..it touched me deeply and it definitely had me crying on more than one occassion..however..the other books within failed to move me at all(with the exception of the final book)I actually only finished reading out of curiosity more than anything else...My four star rating is based purely on book one. I would have awarded it with 5 stars, but I found that a certain choice that was made within it was just too unforgivable. In fact, I am now reading "All We Hold Dear"
in the hopes that this choice and the events that followed it are somehow remedied..I dont want to go into detail because Ill be entering spoiler territory, but all I have to say is that Im crossing my fingers, hoping for the best, and thinking of Ian.
