Rating: Summary: One Last Chance-Justine Davis Review: I had wondered about the story of Chance. I collected all the Trinity West Series and thought that maybe there was a story about Chance. I looked it up and found the title "One Last Chance" and ordered it, hoping it would be about his life. I wanted to connect with all the characters in the series. I received the book and read it immediately.
Chance Buckner-strong, willful, emotional - devasted over the loss of his first wife and unborn son.
Shea de Cortez-shy, willing, lost soul, performer - emotionally protective of her brother.
The story was emotionally satisfying. Chance was first portrayed as a womanizer. His partner Quisto Romero, fun-loving, lady killer. I felt the emotional pull of this story. I immediately fell in love with all the characters in the book. Chance was someone who loves fiercely, and I knew he would love forever. Justine Davis writes these books with heart, passion and intelligence. The ending was pulling. I cried with the knowledge that Chance might lose what he was searching for after the death of his wife and unborn son. I cried when Shea could not deny her love or passion for this man who so loved her. And I cried when they named the baby after Quisto. I will look forward to more of Justine Davis' series. I remain a fan and the Trinity West Series is my favorite. I will never part with thest stories. Finally I have Clay's story. I will read that one hoping the passion comes through. Apparently Clay has been the catalyst by which the Trinity West Detectives have done their job. Beautiful women, Beautiful men who won my heart. Rooted for them, knowing they all belonged together. Everyone needs to read Leader of the Pack. Wouldn't you love to meet a man like Ryan?
Rating: Summary: Stranded on a deserted island? Make sure you have this book! Review: Justine Davis spins another emotionally wrenching tale of duty versus love in One Last Chance. Undercover cop Chance Buckner is forced to deceive songbird Shea Austin as his department works to bring down her corrupt brother. As Chance spends time with her to extract information about her brother's shady dealings, they find in each other a person who understands them better than anyone else. The torture Chance feels as he lies again and again to the woman he loves is heartbreaking. The secondary characters are engaging and believable, with fully developed personalities and motives. The climax is the ultimate testament to the strength of love, and would coax tears from a rock. If you love romances with heroines that you can relate to, heros that are human, and that leave you with a warm, fuzzy feeling in the region of your heart, DO NOT MISS THIS BOOK! This one will stay on your "keeper" shelf, I guarantee it.
Rating: Summary: Emotionally charged powerhouse! A Keeper. Review: Six years ago, Detective Chance Buckner paid the ultimate price for his job with the death of his wife & unborn child in a car bomb meant for him. But from the first, Shea & her songs have touched his battered heart/soul, and for once, he's lost sight of the line that separates his emotions from the job. As things draw to a close, he is tortured by finding love again only to lose her through his deception. Will she be forced to choose between her lover and her brother? This story is the prequel to the Trinity Street West series & is equalled in emotional intensity only by "Leader of the Pack." Don't miss the story of Chance's playboy partner, Quisto Romero in "Lover Under Cover"--the start of the Trinity West series.
