Summary: Soooo sweet!
Review: Sophie, a Czechoslovakian woman who worked as a translator in her native country, finds herself in a totally different world when she moves to the United States...Chicago to be exact. Hating her job as a waitress in a busy city, she soon finds a job in a small Wisconsin town keeping house for a grieving widower, Alec Riley, and his children. What follows is the cutest, sweetest love story. This is definitely Lori Wick in her finest form-gentle lessons about life, cute bits of humor, and a warm love story make this one of those "comfort" books to curl up with. I have read this book three times (whenever I feel the need for a nice sweet read) and have loved gentle, caring Sophie every time. The story of love and family healing is one that you won't want to miss..."Sophie's Heart" will capture your heart!

Summary: Simply Fabulous!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Sophie's Heart, a beautiful story of what God can do in people's lives, touched my life in a wondrous way. In this novel, a strong Christian woman, Sophie, who was brought up in Chezkoslavakia, moved to America, which is what she thought to be "the land of hope." During her first job, her cruel boss, through his cruel remarks, soon shows that America isn't quite perfect. But when she changes jobs and works for Alec Riley, she soon learns the other half of America, the kind and loving side. As she goes through many life-changing experiences and mourns over her Babushka who is still in Chezkoslavakia, her knowledge of God's love and power is reaffirmed through the acts of others. Lori Wick weaved in numerous spiritual truths throughout this inspiring book, causing me to learn many things each chapter of this 450 paged book. I would have read it easily in one day, but due to my 3 hours of homework each night, I was unable. I then devoured it all up on the following weekend. All in all, this exciting, contemporary romance novel should not be unread by anyone. I loved it!!!

Summary: TOUCHING, HEARTWARMING STORY
Review: It had been awhile since I had read a Christian fiction book. I enjoyed this book very much. Sophie, an intelligent and highly educated woman from Czechoslovakia, comes to the United States with high expectations and dreams. After spending time in a lowly job, she hires on as housekeeper for a man and his three children, who have recently lost their mother. This job must have seemed lowly and an embarassment for a woman of Sophie's intelligence, but she is determined to do the very best she can. I loved Sophie's gentle spirit and her compassionate heart. She not only changed the hearts of the characters in the story, but mine as well. This book just brings YOU into the story! You feel the emotion that the characters in the story feel. You feel like you know Sophie as well. This story is so touching and it moved me to tears at the end of the book. This seldoms happens when I read a book. I highly recommend this inspirational story and will look for more books by Lori Wick.

Summary: Sophie's Heart: A True Heart Warmer
Review: "Sophie's Heart," by Lori Wick, is definately the kind of book that melts your heart. Though it has a simple story line, it is filled with heart warming inspiration that will leave you feeling refreshed. The book is a contemporary romance about a young Czechoslovakian woman named Sophie who had left her country to start a new life in America. She was taken in as a house keeper by the Riley family after the sudden death of Mrs. Riley, wife and mother of three kids. Through Sophie's love, kindness, and support, she forever changed their hearts and lives in ways they never dreamed. Wick uses several important elements in her writing that bring the story to life. Among these are description and characterization. Like many well writen books, Sophie's Heart appeals to the senses by the imagery it contains. While this helped me to be able to place myself inside of the story, it also allowed me to feel many of the same emotions the characters experienced. The pain that gripped the hearts of the Riley family members seemed to leap from the pages and into my own. In a conversation between Mr. Riley and Sophie about the loss of his wife, Mr. Riley explained, "'I can still see Craig's [his son] face after he'd gone to the door. It was an officer and the county coroner; they'd come to tell me I was a widower. The numbness set in right away. It started in my heart and just spread outward until I couldn't even feel my fingers....that first night I couldn't even breath. God had to breathe for me.'" This unique method added a lot of flavor to the piece and inspired me as the reader to keep reading. Another strong point that Wick uses in her writing is characterization. Throughout the book, I felt like I had a clear grasp on each of the character's personalities. This is also esential in the development of the story because it helps the reader to get a deeper understanding of the plot. Sophie, being the main character in the book, recieves a lot of attention when it comes to characterization: "...the graceful way she moved her hands; the fun faces she made at the kids just to see them laugh or smile; the warm, attentive eyes she had for anyone who spoke to her; and the way she was given to touching someone's arm, hand, or head with such ease." As the book progressed I felt like I had known Sophie for years, as well as many of the other characters. I have read other books by Lori Wick and I find her writing style to be quite consistant. "The Princess" has just as much characterization and has a similar plot. However, each one of her books that I have read are light and heart warming, which is what attracts me so much to Lori Wick's books. Though there is much to praise about this book, there are some things that, like every piece, could be improved. There were times when I felt like it was dragging on and not going any where in particular. For me, the real excitement didn't come until the very end. In the mean time, however, I picked up on many important "life lessons" about love, forgiveness, letting go, and trust in God. This inspirational story of Sophie's Heart was so touching. It was down to earth and filled with emotion that ranged from tear jerking to abounding joy and excitement. It is a true heart warmer.

Summary: Sweetly Innocent
Review: Although I bought this book several years ago, I only just now read it. I have to say that I'm sorry I hadn't read it sooner. It is a very sweet, innocent love story between a young women and a man and his family. Not only did it feed my yearning for a love story, but it really started me thinking about how I treat people and what my relationship with religion is. Although I have yet to go, this book has moved me to return to church after a lengthy absence and hopefully have a more open heart towards people and spirituality, just like Sophie's Heart. I totally recommend it, especially if you looking for a great pick me up love story.

Review: I usually love Lori Wick's books, but this one i didn't like as much as the other ones. It was slow going trying to get through all the "let's take it slow sort of thing." And i haven't really experienced love, but it seemed they fell into it very quick like. but you don't really know Sophie's feelings for the longest time. And even though Alec discovered his feelings for her before Sophie's was even mentioned, it took her looks to even get him to look at her twice. i was surprised when i was finished that no attention grabbers were in the story because Lori Wick always seems to put in at least a few that i had no idea that it was going to happen. Even though i didn't find this book to be the best, i highly suggest Lori Wick's other books.
