Rating: Summary: Excellent!!!! Completely held my attention!!! Review: I have never read mysteries until reading an excerpt in Essence magazine from Ms. Wesley's book, "Devil's Gonna Get Him" and have been a fan of all of her mysteries since then. This novel was just as good as the mysteries and holds your attention just as well. I look forward to Ms. Wesley's next book!!!
Rating: Summary: Slow paced Review: I've always have been a fan of Ms. Wesley's writing style and flair as a mystery writer. When this book came out with a new genre, I couldn't wait to purchase it, but found it to be slow paced and kind of boring. I'm still a fan of Ms. Wesley and will wait for the next book.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put it down!!! Review: I read this book in one day!!! I am not a big mystery buff so I have only read a couple of Ms. Wesley's Tamara Hale mysteries but this book was excellent. I highly recommend this book. I hope that Ms. Wesley will continue to write fiction. This was a book that was easy to relate too. I can't wait for the next one!!!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: Personally I think Valerie Wilson Wesley is much better at writing mystery novels. This book isn't horrible but I do feel it was lacking something that would have made it an exciting book. It supports the fact that people enter our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime and the people that we meet and have relationships with teach us valuable life lessons. I thought, however, that the children in this book (Steven and Charley) are quite rude and don't have respect for their parents, even though their attitude changed somewhat in the ending. It doesn't really enforce that you are accountable for your actions. In the end everyone got what they wanted despite what they had done. I can't believe that Eva thought there was nothing wrong with sleeping with her daughter's ex-boyfriend! All in all, the book did have a nice ending and it also supports the notion that you do not know that you have a good thing until its gone.
Rating: Summary: Very Good Read Review: Space sometimes is a wonderful thing in a relationship. It gives the two parties a chance to grow and a chance to realize how strong their love is for one another. Eva and Hutch learned this first hand. They learned more about themselves, their children, their family and friends during their time apart. - This was a very mature read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I appreciated Ms. Wesley's writing style, specifically the way she set up each chapter. Recommended read!
Rating: Summary: Had its moments Review: This book has a lot of twists & turns. I was glad to read that a writer could tell the story of romance from a middle age insight. All of the characters in the book had their own personal issues to resolve. Not only was this a romance book, but it was also funny, well-written & the love scenes were steamy. I am looking forward to Valerie's next romance book. Valerie is a talented mystery writer as well as romance writer.
Rating: Summary: A good book. Review: This was a good book. Although It wasn't the type of book that you feel you just can't put down, it did keep my interest. The characters were very likeable too. When I first read the introduction I said I know I'm not going to like Eva. But when I got into the book, I wondered well what did she do that made Hutch just up and leave in the middle of the night? I feel like the author could have went more into detail about their past history, that would lead up to the part when Hutch left. But Eva wasn't as bad as the introduction pertrayed her to be. I do think it was very tacky for her to sleep with her daughters ex. Even if Charly dumped him because she found no compatabilty with him. Mothers should know better. As for Donald he got just what he deserved. Its karma, what goes around will eventually come back around again. And when it does, its usually worse for the person that dished it out. Good for him. I do wish that Raye could have found the happiness she truly deserved. I liked Raye, she seemed to be a very nice lady. The book ended pretty good too. I would recommend this book to all. Big up to Valerie Wilson Wesley. I'll be reading more of your books.
