Rating: Summary: Everybody's Business Review: Once again Ms. Wesley provides us with a host of characters that are very entertaining. No only does Mrs. Wesley write about ordinary things in an ordinary life but she expands on some major issues within our lives as couples, children, as well as friends. A good read!
Rating: Summary: Everybody's Business Review: I just had the opportunity this weekend of having the chance to finished read this book. Once I started reading this book I couldn't even put it down. This book is filled with lots and lots of juicy plots that clearly begins to unfold chapter after chapter.I must say that the characters were definetly well put together. This book is definetly recommendable and I have already recommended it to others. This is the first novel that I've read from Valerie Wilson Wesley and definetly ain't going to be my last. I recommend this to anyone who's in the mood for some good fiction to go out and get this book.
Rating: Summary: I Couldn't put this Book down Review: I must say that I enjoyed this book very much. It takes a lot to impress me when it comes to books, but this book impressed me a great deal. It is one of those books that you just can't put down, i mean I coudn't wait to see what happens next with the family. I recommend this book to all who enjoy family and like to read.
Rating: Summary: A good Twist Review: This story was different and had a good twist to it. I really liked how it revolved around all the characters. I also enjoyed how the family finally comes together at the end and works things out. This is a pretty good read.
Rating: Summary: Slow Read Review: I gave the book an average rating due to the fact it was a very slow read. I had to literally force myself to read the entire book. This is my first time reading one of Valerie Wesley's books, so I'm looking forward to reading some of her others in the future.
Rating: Summary: Valerie Has A Way With Words! Review: I really enjoyed this touching, funny book about Eva and Hutch, forty-somethings with grown children, and a marriage in crisis. I think this was an excellent coming-of-age story, even though the main characters are middle-aged! And Valerie's writing just flows beautifully. I think she did a great job of showing how Eva and Hutch make peace with each other, their children, their pasts, and most importantly, themselves. From looking at the reviews of fans of her Tamara Hayle series, this book isn't the author's best work. But, I never read any of the Tamara Hayle books, because I don't really care for mysteries. However, after reading Ain't Nobody's Business, I will be reading about the adventures of Tamara, 'cause I've just gotta read some more of this talented author's work! And don't listen to the nay-sayers, Valerie: I'd LOVE to read another love story by you!
Rating: Summary: Fabulous! Review: My bookclub, "Umoja" gives this book five stars! I loved the fact that the author kept a few minor details hidden until absolutely necessary about the main protagonist. This made it impossible to predict how the story would end, if it would end at all. Ms. Wesley also graced her characters with enough space to learn and to grow from their experiences...This book was absolutely wonderful to read...looking forward the next...although I kind of missed Tamara Hayle, Private Detective series...
Rating: Summary: Very Entertaining and Insightful! Review: "Ain't Nobody's...." was a treat! Eva was sure her life was perfect......until Hutch decides to leave her. Hutch was acting like a total idiot and Eva was almost following suit. Until Isaiah comes along and rocks her world. Charley acts like a spoiled brat and her stepbrother Stephen was mistreated by his father. This book held my attention very well even at the pool with a million screaming kids.
Rating: Summary: 'Ain't Nobody's Business If I Do'... like it. Review: The author took a break from the Tamara Hayle mysteries to flex her writing wings, and I, for one, am glad she did. This novel was pretty cool and remained true to the characterizations created for each member. At times, the book repeated itself and seemed preachy, yet, all and all, it captured my interest and I finished it in three days. A record for me. If she strayed away from Tamara again, I would be there to support her. A good read.
Rating: Summary: JUMP OFF THE ROMANCE NOVEL BANDWAGON! Review: Ain't Nobody Business If I Do is Ms. Wesley's departure from writing mysteries to a contemporary romance novel. The storyline is about a mature, married couple(Eva & Hutch) and theie relationship with each other, grown children, friends and finally SELF. Meet Eva and Hutch as they struggle through the ups and downs of being married for a number of years. Eva must come to terms with her life, dreams, and sexual desires after Hutch decides he needs space because Eva no longer makes him happy. As Hutch goes through mid-life crisis, he must come to terms regarding his feelings for his reserved/aloof father,as well as,what he feels for his son(Stephen)that he doesn't know very well, in addition to coming face to face regarding personal decisions. As Hutch searches for his pursuit of happiness, will he ruin his relationship with his best friend(Donald) by betraying him? Will Hutch succumb to the attractive Raye (Donald's wife) and satisfy her needs for love, and attention that she's desperately craving and not receiving from her TRUE junkyard dog husband Donald? Or will Hutch realize that Life Is Only As Green As You Make it and Decide He Needs To Give His Marriage a chance For Better or For Worse?Ain't Nobody's Business If I Do covered everyday issues that families/friends face in real life. Ms. Wesley's writing style was sharp as ever and she did a splendid job in developing the characters including Hutch's best friends. I enjoyed reading about mature,upper/middle class black couples in the game of love, relationships, family affairs and personal choices. I liked the inclusion of the mother-daughter relationship(Eva & Charley), as well as the father-son relationship(Hutch & Steven)...as these situations gave depth to Eva & Hutch's characters beyond there marriage...because kids(young or old) can affect the relationship of a couple. The storyline/plot was interesting and had room to go in a number of plot-twisting directions; however, the tone/manner in which the story was told was mundane and as such the story moved slowly and was very predictable. Ms. Wesley, I am an avid fan of your Tamara Hayle's mystery series and have read the entire series. Now that you've had your departure for something different would you please bring her back? The writing style of your mystery series is what I've come to expect from your novels...pageturning, plot twisting, spellbinding, witty dialogue, crafty scenes and an exciting book to boot. Unfortunately, Ain't Nobody's Business If I Do, while a good first attempt into the romance novel arena, did not live up to my expectations.
