Summary: Nothing redeeming here
Review: It pains me to give a bad review to this book, but it pained me to read it, too, so I guess it's only fair. I am a big Diana Palmer fan, and have liked books that many other fans have not (Diamond Spur, Fit For a King, Rage of Passion) but this book was truly abyssmal. I cannot call the main male character a hero, because he doesn't come even close. He is violent, cruel and downright mean. I guess we are supposed to understand that he is sheilding his tender emotions, but I cannot believe the wet noodle "heroine" puts up with his *years* of emotional abuse. He takes and takes and gives nothing in return but rough "lessons" in intimacy that serve to humiliate rather than educate. It is, literally, only in the last few pages that he makes the big transformation to loving good guy, but it is much too little, much too late. And to top it all off, we don't even get a love scene! Boo, hiss!! I wish I had read the other reviews here, first. I won't make that mistake again.

Summary: Why do I read these?
Review: The original copyright is 1979. Somehow I never read this, and I thought I'd read all of her stuff. The plot is familiar, the male lead, like all of hers, is as close to an emotional abuser as you can get. So, why do I read this stuff? Maybe because in the end he gets walloped in the heart and repents? Or maybe I hope Ms. Palmer will someday make the hero strong and pleasant. This story could have gone 3 different ways, and at one point I thought it would. However she uses a plot device she has used before-heroine gets in an accident and the hero wakes up to the fact that he could have lost his love. Very little sex and that also with overtones of he wants it, he gets it. And, yes I'll probably buy her next book too, I live in hope!

Summary: Nothing redeeming here
Review: This book is your typical Diana Palmer. Young virginal girl, much older experienced guy. However the guy is about as unlikeable as a hero can get. Throughout the novel he is malignant, unapproachable and an insulting jerk who is obviously using this as a facade to hide his real feelings for our heroine, Maggie. Typically he doesn't realize how much of a jerk he is and how much he loves her until a near fatal accident nearly takes Maggie away from him. Cliche, anyone? I thought the whole purpose of romances was to glorify in how we wish men were, not remind us of how boorish they can be, also with very little sensuality to even save this book, its a bust, avoid at all cost!
