Rating: Summary: Snuggle up with a Viking Review: Viking's Princess is a great comedic fairy tale; it reminded me a little of "A Knight's Tale." One of the differences (besides the fact that the hero is a Viking, not an English knight) is that the snobbish pricess (Alleta) in VP gets her come-uppence. It's hillarious to see how Roark (the hunky hero) "tames" Alleta's selfish, shrewish ways. I liked the secondary characters too, but I thought Roark's younger brother Erik kind of mysteriously disappeared towards the end of the novel; would have liked to read a bit more about him. Keep'em coming, Aja!

Rating: Summary: My new favorite author! Review: Viking's Princess is a great surprise! I have a few favorite authors, so I don't usually try new books, but I decided to take a risk on this one because I've always liked medieval romances and Vikings. I liked the fact that the heroine Alleta is not your usual "nice girl" with no real flaws, who's always compassionate and sweet. The fact that Alleta is not so likeable in the beginning makes her transformation throughout the novel all the more impactful. Love makes her a better person. And I like the twist that it's the "bad girl" that gets reformed by love rather than the typical "bad boy" that gets reformed. And of course I just LOVE Roark!!!!! He's so yummy! I'm always a sucker for the strong silent types--dependable, honorable, capable... and it doesn't hurt that he's gorgeous to boot! And it WOULD take a tough Viking warrior to show Alleta the error of her ways... I read Viking's Princess in one sitting and went online to search for more of Aja James' books, and was disappointed to find this is the only one thus far. I wonder whether she'll have stories for the rest of Alleta's siblings--esp. Rogue and Cynthia. They're a hoot!
Rating: Summary: Ready to read more! Review: Viking's Princess was a good first book with all the makings of a multi-novel series. I am certainly intrigued about many of the supporting cast, like Alleta's briefly alluded to eldest brother Tristan... I can see stories developed for everyone in the royal Sardinian family. And Alleta's betrothed, the Tiger Prince, who fell in love with a "pickpocket," could also be an interesting tale. But I found the heroine Alleta a little too hard to really sympathize with; she didn't become likeable until later in the novel. Roark, though, is a dream. He's so scrumptious, I felt like Alleta didn't quite deserve him... Looking forward to reading more from James
