Rating: Summary: Viking's Princess is the best! Review: Aja James is a fantastic new author. Viking's Princess is the best romance novel I have ever read. The characters were all so well developed. Roark is an absolute dream and Alleta is so fantastically snobby that you sometimes wish you could shake her. I hope that Aja James intends to write novels about the other characters. I can't wait to read some more of her works!
Rating: Summary: The next Flaubert Review: As a fellow Harvardian, I am proud to say that James has established herself as a novelist of such importance that we have to search back to Gustav Flaubert to find a rival for her. Sexy without pandering, James writes the story of what could be called the "romantic education" of a young woman in a way that makes us all see anew how a consummate novelist can write high art that is also more entertaining than anything that most of us have read in years.New York lit crit insiders have passed along a rumor that James developed the character of Roark based on a little-publicized affair that she conducted at the tender age of 18 with Italian celebrity Fabio. I cannot vouch for the truth of that report, but I will say that James shows herself to be a women of broad-experience and a rare understanding of what makes a young woman tick.
Rating: Summary: Delightful surprise . . . Review: I always like a good medieval read, and I really liked the light-hearted tone of Viking's Princess. My best friend is Norweigian so I'm partial to Viking stories too. It cracked me up that the Vikings were likened to "wolves" and the English? knights were "cotton-tailed rabbits" in contrast. How appropriate! I especially liked the character development in the novel-- Alleta's journey from being the selfish "Snob" to the lovable snob (but still a snob, after all, no one that beautiful and talented should be completely without flaws). I loved that Roark doesn't give her an inch, but shows her, in his own quiet way, compassion and understanding and true love. I wonder if Aja is going to write stories for Alleta's siblings too. Her brother Fabian, the "Dark Prince," is really intriguing. I hope I get to read about him soon . . . Get acquainted with this quirky royal family with Viking's Princess. I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Rating: Summary: Light-hearted read Review: I read this book over Christmas and it was perfect for as a romantic getaway. The characters are really funny; even Alleta, the haughty princess was funny in her own irritating way. I totally recommend it!
Rating: Summary: Unexpected treat... Review: I wasn't expecting a romance novel when I picked up Viking's Princess. It doesn't look like the typical paperback romances, and I don't consider myself a romance enthusiast. But I found that Viking's Pricess was an unexpected treat. The lead characters, Alleta and Roark, are nicely developed. I especially liked the fact that they aren't the usual romance novel stereotypes. I liked the light-heartedness of the novel and the humor and playfulness. I look forward to more of Ms. James' novels.

Rating: Summary: The contradictions of romance! Review: Only by chance I recently stumbled upon Ms. James' work, and must say, from what I've grown to enjoy her work. The subtleties and contradictions rife in her work make for a fantastic read. As a young writer, this is a fabulous start to what I hope will be a long line of future books. If only all writers had her sense of romance!
Rating: Summary: Wow - really didn't expect this one to be so interesting. Review: Strongly strongly recommend this one to anyone who is looking for something interesting, funny, yet romantic. This one just beats my expectation!!!
