Rating: Summary: An excellent story Review: As a new reader of Eagle's books, I almost didn't bother with this one. The first 3 that I read, Night Remembers, Last good Man, and What the Heart Knows were just were okay, so when I started this one I was definitly surprised. It was good from the very beginning and stayed that way through the whole book. This is one not to miss and because of this book I am going to try 2 more, This Time Forever and Reason to Believe and hope they are as good as this one was.
Rating: Summary: Nice surprise Review: Having just read a poor novel involving horses, I had very low expectations for "The Last True Cowboy" (cheesy title and all). I was quite surprised. I got hooked from the very first page, and one of the things that impressed me the most was the language -- this book is extremely well written, and a pleasure to read. I wanted to read it as slowly as possible to savor it, yet couldn't wait to see what was happening next. The story is very well paced, and the women figures are very well developed. They are strong characters, yet flawed -- as human as you can get. Even though you might not agree with their actions, you can see where they're coming from. The family dynamic is very believable, and the romance is not bad either. All in all I thought it was a very "grown up" story. Not your average paperback novel.

Rating: Summary: A wonderful heart-warming story of love and family devotion Review: I loved The Last True Cowboy, it was a touching story of family devotion and love and a committment to saving something that is so much a part of our history. The true working ranch that a family desperately wants to save, Julia and KC are meant to be together and their dreams were so much the same. What a gentle man KC was and he would do anything to help someone out and to finally have something he called his own. Julia was afraid to put all of her faith in KC but with the love of her Grandma, memories of Ross's dreams, a city life she was not sure she wanted and a renewed relationship with a sister , how could she lose? Kathleen certainly touched my heart as I have always loved horses and I always love a happy ending. I hated to see this book end because the characters were so real. A true winner and I hope everyone takes the time to sit down and read this one. Keep up the great work, Kathleen.!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Story is Great - Typos are another thing Review: I really like the story and the writing was great. However, my problem is the Typos that are in every Kathleen Eagle book I have ever read. I even followed one characters name once and saw it change three different times. Does Kathleen not remember what she is writing or do her editors just not care
Rating: Summary: A beautifully crafted novel of romance and community Review: I thought this book was terrific: subtly written with complex characterizations and a fascinating story. I couldn't put it down because I didn't want to leave the people. Wonderful reading!
Rating: Summary: It stole my western heart!!!!!! Review: I was absoulutly entranced by this book. So realistic, soooo romantic, so fun!!!I love it !!!
Rating: Summary: Delightful Reading Review: Kathleen Eagle is one of my all-time favorite authors, but "The Last True Cowboy" just didn't deliver. Much as I hate to admit it, I agree with the reviewer who found the plot weak and the swaggering, beer-drinkin', boot-stompin' cowboy bit a little too cliche and overdone. Though K.C. Houston mentions on two or three occasions that he's got some Indian heritage, American Indian life, itself, plays no part in this novel. Of course, I don't mean to put Ms. Eagle in a box, but her vast knowledge and love of American Indian heritage gives her storytelling a very rich, almost spell-binding appeal that I found I sorely missed in "The Last True Cowboy." I did enjoy the descriptions of the wild mustangs, but the characters of K.C., Julia, Dawn, Sally, Vern, etc., just didn't pull me in the way Ms. Eagle's novels usually do. I couldn't wait to finish it so I could get started on the other Eagle novel I recently purchased.

Rating: Summary: Slow and Easy Review: LAST TRUE COWBOY was a bit too slow and easy. I really enjoy Eagle's books but this one didn't seem to have any real sizzle. I kept picturing Matthew McConnaughey as K.C. but even that didn't help. Julia had a lovely personality but there was no real tension. You KNEW the Pollaks would never buy the ranch, you KNEW that K.C would never cheat on Julia with Dawn. In fact the best romance scene was the very first one where K.C. picked up Julia in the bar. A bit of a disappointment but still worth reading.
