Summary: Wouldn't it be nice if this story really was unbelievable?
Review: I've been reading some other reviews, and it seems that the people who didn't like the book disliked it because they thought the story was unbelievable. Wow! Wouldn't the world be nice if there were no abandoned children like Arley? No criminals like Dillon? No despicable parents like Arley's mother? The world would be a nicer place, I'm sure. But, the world is not a nice place. Screwed up things that make a plot like this credible happen every single day. Maybe some people don't like to read about them. But, if you are not one of those people - and if you like books about human compassion and the spirit of survival, this is definitely a book for you.

What got me the most about this book was the author's uncanny ability to bring you inside the head of a troubled teenaged girl. Then, when she would switch back to writing as if she were Anne, you were right inside the head of a woman who was sitting at the crossroad of her life. I could understand everything each character did, and why. This even holds true for the many "bad guys" in this book. They rang true and remained consistent throughout the book.

Some people only like to read about situations they can identify with and/or people they want to be like. If that were the truth for me, I would not have liked this book because God only knows, I would not want to trade places with any of these people. But for me, reading is about going places I would dare not go myself. And, boy oh boy did this book take me there. I wouldn't want to be Arley AND I sure wouldn't want to be Annie, either. And, maybe that was why I liked this book so much. Because, the author put me in a place I would never go myself and made me believe in it. She made me feel the hope that these characters needed to go on. Now if you ask me - THAT IS WHAT GOOD WRITING IS ALL ABOUT!

Summary: Silly and Shameless
Review: Not my usual read. I liked "deep end" but even that was somewhat overrated. This book is like reading the National Enquirer. All sex, scandal, and sordid stories. Absoultely shameless. I certainly hope this would not happen to anyone in real life. The love affair between Arley and Dillon is ridiculous with its use of poetry. Blah! Blah! Blah! Do yourself a favor and pass for the "most Wanted" is the "least desirable" book I have read in a long time.

Summary: Teenage Scandals
Review: Picture this: a fourteen year old girl, on a dare, begins to write a convict and falls in love with him and his letters. Have I gotten your attention yet? If so, sit down and read Jaqueline Mitchard's new book, The Most Wanted. The story takes place in South Texas, within the past three years. Anne Singer's life turns around the day that Arley Mowbray arrives in her office, with her slough of dilemmas. She became so involved in Arley's life that she was torn between her own life and Arley's. Arlington Mowbray. is a fourteen year old girl. . .excuse me . . woman, who has never really been popular with those of the opposite sex. Her best friend's sister, Connie, begins to interest her in a guy named Dillon Le Grand. But it just so happens that he is in Solamente River Prison convicted of murder. (ooh!) Their relationship starts off based of lies and deception but as soon as Arley and Dillon become more involved, all of the secrets are exposed. Within the same year, Arley and Dillon's relationship deepens and they are united in Holy matrimony. As married couples do, Arley and Dillon made love and Arley got pregnant. Her world is literally torn apart. Arley's mother disowns her, so Anne must take Arley under her wing. Anne's long time boyfriend, Stuart, a death row lawyer, begins to take notice of Arley and Anne's growing chummy relationship. As things get more and more intense between Dillon and Arley, Anne is drawn into every detail of their current status. Arley ends up going through with her pregnancy and Desiree is born. After that, Arley's life begins to spiral out of control. As this story of twisted desire, jealousy, and tragedy unfolds, it will keep your eyes glued to all of its 407 pages.

This book, The Most Wanted, was definitely a heartfelt novel. Jacqueline Mitchard depicts Arley's joy, heartbreak, and feeling of utter desolation in such a realistic way that you can almost feel Arley's emotions as your own. you feel the love she has for Dillon and the excitement when their daughter is born. The title is a perfect interpretation of this novel because of the whole prison theme that is interwoven throughout the story and Dillon ending up escaping prison to claim Arley and Desi and therefore becomes "the most wanted." It is the irony of the whole story that ties the title to the story. The cover art catches the essence of Arley's child-like innocence; the fact that she was inticed into a relationship with Dillon and she would be so caught up in it at such a young age. The most affecting line in the story to me is at the end, page 405. It says. "Until Desi, I thought I understood what love was, and what family was, but I didn't know a thing." So many teenagers these dddays take the comfort of their own lives for granted. Reading about how a fourteen year old could overcome all odds and still be sane made me realize how you can come out of a bad situation with a good result. Arley's experiences strengthened her perspective on life, she is now mre responsible and that is the most important thing.

I can honestly say I enjoyed reading this book because I can almost relate to some of Arley's "teen dilemmas." However, alternating story format between the chapters tended to confuse me at first. There seems to be no transition what-so-ever int he first few chapters. The storyline does get off to a slow start but begins to amount to a very unexpected resloution. I do recommend this book to those with a good understanding of a teenager's psychology and the comprehension of a reasonably mature mind.

Summary: Don't waste your time on this one!
Review: I don't really know why I even bought this book in the first place. I saw it in the store and for some reason after reading the back, thought it might be good. Well, normally it takes me a few days to a week to read a book. I started this one about a month and a half ago and just finished it today. Why I didn't stop reading it before I wasted my time reading the whole thing, I'll never know. PLEASE don't be fooled like I was! This book was really bad!

Summary: A bit Predictable but very engaging
Review: Altough you could see the ending of The Most Wanted coming from a mile away, I found the novel to be very engaging. I am 17 and I thought that Arley was a believable teenager. Annie was also believable, but the stuart character was not likable and Annie's relationship with Charley should have been more developed. Although Mitchard did not write the poems in this novel, I thought that they were beautiful and perfectly conveyed the love between Dillon and Arley.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Better than Mitchard's first.
Review: The Most Wanted was far more readable and enjoyable than "Deep End...." Characters were fairly well developed and believable. I enjoyed the parallel themes of forbidden love that weave throughout the story. That theme is evident not just between Arley and Dillon, but also with Annie and Stuart, Janine and her many boyfriends, and Rita and the man who Arley discovers is her father (I don't want to spill the beans for anyone who hasn't read it.) I hope Mitchard's work keeps improving as it did in this novel. This was an enjoyable summer novel that I would definitely recommend.

Summary: The Best Of All Books
Review: The Most Wanted was one of the sadest stories that I have ever read. I will never forget it. It is so touching and moving word by word. I couldn't even put the book down. The Most Wanted was one of the best books that I have ever read.

Summary: Non-memorable summer - type read.
Review: Hmmmm---most wanted here is a belivable story line! First the premise is a bit wild--- 14yr.old girl falls in love with jailed adult male and MARRIES him!!

If that isn't quite wild enough, the young girl just happens to meet a caring, loving, supportive, adult professional to take her under her wing. (Sounds a bit like a fairy-godmother).

One thing I did enjoy --- it brought back many memories of high school--was the poem 'The Highway Man'. I recall studying it in school and always liked it.

Summary: Too good to put down!
Review: As soon as I started this book I was rapped up in the story. Judy Blume gives excellent details of each character and makes you feel as if you know every one of them. It was the best book I have ever read! I have recommended the book to many friends and they enjoyed it as much as I did.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Wonderful
Review: I absolutely loved this novel! I could not put it down all day! I finished it in a few hours. The love story was beautiful. I do not think Dillon meant Arley any harm, he loved her too much. I was so upset at the end..i cried so much. But the annie chapters were kinda boring. I tended to skip those.

but altogether..i loved it.
