Summary: Passion. Suspense. Romance.
Review: Perception or reality. How does a person's inherited blood ties affect their life? Is their such a thing as a "bad seed?" The choices a person makes, like Lucky, in Silicon Secrets, are based on what a person believes about themselves; about what a person believes to be reality. Silicon Secrets delves into these questions, and how a person is pushed to the brink, like the main character, Lucky to succeed, no matter what. Can a person change--ever? Will Lucky change--ever? Silicon Secrets is a good book because it asks imponderable questions. We read Silicon Secrets in our book group, and everyone had their own opinion about the relationship between Lucky and Heather. I recommend this book to read on your own or for your book group. Your book group discussion will be a lively one!

Summary: Opening Day on the Bay
Review: Reading Silicon Secrets is like going for a ride in a sail boat. At first, the writing was a little choppy, but as I got into the story, the writing smoothed. The characters came to life and the story flowed like a well-oiled engine. The way the different story lines came together at the end of the book was like a smooth sail into port.

Three members of my family read this book, and we all loved it.

Summary: An intense and deftly written novel
Review: Silicon Secrets by Catherine Burr is an intense and deftly written novel of Lucky (who would sell his soul to get what he wants) and Heather (an artistic free spirit who has everything she needs but lacks the one thing she can't have), two souls in desperate search for love and freedom. And then there is J.J., the corporate seductress who is willing to offer Lucky farm more than just stock options. Lucky and Heather are obsessed with obtaining their desires, but are in serious risk of losing the precious possibilities that lie before them both. Silicon Secrets is enthusiastically recommended as an original, captivating, cautionary, and contemporary tale of human relationships.

Summary: A Gripping Novel
Review: Silicon Secrets is a gripping tale of a young European, Lucky Lukovich, who leaves his home country and sails to America with little more than the clothes on his back, but with the dream of a better life burning in his heart.

Working his way west to California and a valley they called Silicon, Lucky falls in love-with a new country, a new career and many pretty people at the top of the social stratum. He also finds himself entangled with two women. One is good for him, one isn't. Since Lucky's path isn't always as fortunate as his name, he encounters sobering realities as well as heart-gripping, tender moments, but in the end, it's his choice that shapes his own destiny. You'll love him and you'll hate him, but you'll never forget him.

If you like a fast-paced story, vivid with emotion, intertwined with twists, tight plots and interesting, believable characters, you will love this novel.

Ms. Burr has the unique ability to draw a reader deep into the story where you'll experience the gamut of emotion from laughter to tears. This first novel from a very talented painter of words will leave you longing for more of her work. Watch for her to top the best seller list.

Summary: Unpredictible Pleasure
Review: The story in Silicon Secrets is about Lucky, a European immigrant who travels to America in search of freedom and success. He dreams of a day his haunted past will be free of him. Lucky arrives in New York City, travels across the country, ending up on a beach in California. He meets Heather, who could be the love of his life, but alas Lucky becomes side-tracked by his profound desire for success and a corporate hot-shot, J.J. who wants more from Lucky than meets the eye.

What I loved most about Silicon Secrets was just when I thought I knew what was going to happen next--something else did.

Summary: Escapism Valley
Review: Though this may not be the real world of Silicon Valley, the fantasy of "get-rich-quick" is depicted in the characters in Silicon Secrets, and finds a way to work. Lucky, a poor, depraved soul, searching for something ... anything, preferably with greenbacks attached. Heather, a beachy girl, who you're not sure has brains or not. J.J. a hot-to-trot, corporate President, who has more time for sex than business. These characters come together in a somewhat implausible, yet compelling story-line, that combines mystery, romance and greed in a novel, you can't put down.
