Rating: Summary: great romance Review: I liked this book right from the beginning. Seth was so alone his whole life, it was easy to understand and care for him. Pippa added humor. The interaction between the two was good. I only wish the cover picture had captured Seth a little better!
Rating: Summary: Very believable characters. Review: I loved this story. The characters are very believable with idiosyncrasies that make them just a little different from the mainstream story. I liked the humor that Pippa displays in almost every circumstance, yet her underlying distrust of men (with good reason) is seen in her relationship with Seth. With her unfailing humor she changes the attitude of almost all of the people who live in this little town especially Seth and his son Chad.I can't wait to get my hands on more of her contempory stories.

Rating: Summary: A terrific romance Review: I've read many Patricia Rice romances, and based on her first contemporaries, she's even better at contemporary than historical. Like Susan Elizabeth Phillips, she combines humor and emotion into a fast moving, thoroughly enjoyable read. Can't wait for the next one!
Rating: Summary: Entertaining read but not a real keeper Review: The core plot of this book is a fun, entertaining romance. Seth is an understandably troubled hero and Pippa has some very real demons. I enjoyed the growing romantic chemistry between them. The side plots are where this book stumbles. The story about his son works quite well and keeps this from being just another cookie-cutter book about a trouble boss saved by a charming assistant. What I found to be utterly gratuitous was the whole evil threats/bombing aspects. This seems to be a real trend in 1990's romances. It seems to be something of a cop-out when the really tough thing to write about is the growth of the relationship. Bottom-line: A pleasant read but not a book I'll be keeping or lending to friends.

Rating: Summary: Charming, funny and ALMOST believable! Review: This book was sooo very good. Seth is a reclusive millionaire who secretly writes best-selling horror novels and lives with his paralyzed six year old son and a few maniacal servants (they're the only one's willing to put up with him). He's moody, grouchy, bossy and doesn't deal well with people, not surprisingly his community members are scared to death of him. When his administrative assistant/nanny takes a leave of absence he's at a loss. When Pippa loses her mother, her job at the Hospital and gets beaten to a pulp by her abusive boyfriend she leaves everything behind and hopes to start over in a small town. She takes the job at Seth's mansion even though all of her instincts tell her not to. She's had it with dangerous men and resolves to keep her fragile heart closed where Seth is concerned. He's sexy, he's gorgeous but he's incapable of love or so he thinks until Pippa, with her smiles and irresistible sunny personality, turns his tortured life upside down and teaches him how to laugh . . . I just loved this book full of wounded souls who eventually find the strength to love and begin to heal. There wasn't a thing about it to dislike. The hero and heroine are perfectly matched and watching the way they interacted with each other while trying to avoid love was both funny and touching. I highly recommend this one for anyone who loves a well developed love story rich in characterization. END

Rating: Summary: this book is great reading Review: This is the first time I have read a book by Patricia Rice, I thought this book was wonderful. I was caught up in the story of Pippa and Seth the minute I starting reading. I loved when Pippa first meets Seth's son Chad, and she dumps a pitcher of water on top of his head, and how the relationship develops from there. Cannot wait to read more from this author. Bonnie
Rating: Summary: Charming, funny and ALMOST believable! Review: This was a wonderful "get away" romance filled with possibilities and fun. It had an ending that was predictable, but nonetheless good for the soul. I enjoyed the characters and the banter between them. It was a great read for anyone looking for a "no brainer" romance.
