Summary: "Not again!" she shrieks.
Review: "What?"

"For the love of God, not yet ANOTHER thirty year old virgin placed in an untenable, thoroughly unbelievable setting!"

"What are you talking about? The character's actually supposed to be some thirty year old---good god!---VIRGIN? What? Did this take place in a convent?"

"No, not a convent, in some place called Paradise-something-or-other in Florida. And what a dreary town it was! All those harping neighbors talking in circles---what, am I supposed to think that's CHARMING? They could inspire a reader to self mutilation with all their useless, page-filling arguments! CUT OUT MY EYES! I CAN'T TAKE ANOTHER WORD!"

"Egad. Sounds banal."

"Banal? BANAL? It's not just banal, my friend, it's downright a waste of money and time. Women of this day and age are RARELY virgins, nor are they irrational, whining idiots who think men who constantly condescend to them are somehow DESIREABLE. As IF."

"Ugh. Sorry it was such a horrible experience."

She sighs, looks him over with an arched brow. "Ah well, it's all right. I won't buy her books again. But you can come here and show me what real romance is all about."

***

Which is all to say: Me no likey. You no buy.

Summary: It WAS a frustrating book, on the whole...
Review: ...for multiple reasons, most of which other reviewers have touched upon. One thing that bothered me was why on earth, once they'd figured out what was going on, they didn't just go on home. I sure would have!

My primary problem - which, however, may be something that only bothers me - is I'm just not comfortable with a stepbrother and stepsister getting involved romantically.

Summary: This is not romance
Review: I can't tell you how it ends as I threw this book away. Not only are the characters not sympathetic, the entire story could be told in three paragraphs. However, I've finished lame books before. What stopped me with this one? Among the last ten words spoken by our hero before he took the woman to bed for the first time were "shut your yap" and "Tess, shut up." Then he went into a five page internal conversation wondering how she felt. He didn't ask mind you. He just decided that she would probably want to kill him the next morning for taking her to bed, BUT he just had to go on because he "had to know what it was like to be with a woman who could move him this way."

Tess, run away. Potential reader, run away. This is not the book to buy.

Summary: Tempting Mr. Wright
Review: I have read all of Sue Civil-Brown's books and was looking forward to this one coming out. However, this book was not up to Sue's talents. I very seldom don't finish a book - but I stopped reading this one half-way through. I became so bored with Tess and Jack fighting that I just gave up. Their adolescent behavior was irritating, and they continued to fight long after they should have come to some accord. I found myself not even caring what had happened to their partents. If you're looking for one of Sue's books that are full of off-beat characters and lots of laughs - don't buy this one.

Summary: I wasted a Saturday for this??
Review: I'm not a big fan of Sue Civil-Brown's books to begin with; her characters are always way too 'flaky' for me. I had hoped that I'd enjoy Tempting Mr. Wright. I didn't, but not because of any 'flakiness,' although that was certainly there, just not as prevalent as in her previous books. TMW had *way* too much petty bickering between Tess and Jack, especially after they came to realize the extent of their feelings towards each other. Where was the romance?? Where was the emotional dialog? The whole story just dragged along; I believe Tess and Jack didn't even kiss until halfway through the book.

If you're looking to read a good romantic comedy, check out Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Rachel Gibson, or the more recent books by Susan Andersen; don't be 'Tempted' to spend your money on 'Mr. Wrong.'

Summary: An amusing and novel novel
Review: Tess Morrow and Jack Wright first met as teenagers when their parents married. For years, the duo stayed way from each other as they agreed on nothing except their love for their parents. However, both receive a shocking call from a Florida neighbor of their parents that Steve and Brigitte vanished from their Paradise Beach home.

Separately, Tess and Jack arrive in Florida to find out what happened. Their combat starts all over again upon first sight as Jack greets "Shorty" in his usual way and she reciprocates his "fond" hello. However, both must find a way to forge a truce if they are to cooperate and learn what occurred to their missing parents. However, neither one expected passion to engulf them nor did they expect to find love in each other's arms even as they worry about Steve and Brigitte.

TEMPTING MR. WRIGHT will tempt readers of romantic romps to search for other works by Sue Civil Brown (see CATCHING KELLY). The story line is humorous and ably assisted by the reappearance of charcaters form previous tales. Tess and Jack are a wonderful couple whose wars will feel right at home for anyone with a sibling or as in this case a stepsibling. Fans of lighthearted, contemporary romances will rate highly Ms. Brown's amusing yarn.An amusing yarn

Summary: Tempting Mr. Wright
Review: This book was awful. Ususally I love Sue Brown's books. I did not enjoy this at all. Very slow and poor story. There are many older books that she has written that are 10 times better. Save your money. Buy a old one.

Summary: AMEN TO THE OTHER REVIEWERS
Review: This read like a first attempt at a novel. What a waste of my time and money. Don't be tempted to buy this one. It is so bad.
