Summary: Wonderful
Review: A book can not be judge by its cover. This is so true with this book. This book brought so much meaning to my recent trip to Memphis that I felt like I was in still in Memphis. My family visit Memphis for our Spring Break and we tour the National Civil Rights Museum and we saw Jacqueline Smith sitting out front just like the book told. This story was very knowledgeable in telling the history of Memphis and all the events that occurred during the span of the story. Ms McMillan is one of my favorite author and I truly enjoys her writing. This book was so hard to put down, because you just had to find out what was going to happen to Isabell. Thank you Ms. McMillan for another job well done.

Summary: it was pretty good.
Review: A coming of age story about the Russell family. Anne tries to keep the family together, taking care of her two nieces. Anne ends up getting married to a mean man, who want let her have any contact with her niece Bentley, and her other niece nikkie who was sickly. The two was left in the hands of Anne's mean sister. When Anne's husband dies, the family is able to reunite, but hardships still come. I don't understand why Anne couldn't call her family when her husband was at work. If you wasen't satisfied with mrs. Mcmillian last few books, I think this one might make you happy.

Summary: An Enjoyable Book
Review: At first when I purchased the book "This Side of Eternity" I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy reading it. How mistaken I was, the book was good. I have read other books by Rosalyn McMillan and this was one of her best. One part of the book was heartbreaking and that's when Anne's daughter and son-in-law were killed. I take pleasure in reading books that touch my heart and this one did. Go out and purchase this book. You will not be disappointed.

Summary: Not impressed!
Review: First, I had to read nearly a third of this book before it peaked my interest. Then, I found it to be too far-fetched and the family had a MUCH too tragic existence. From death to disease, it was more than I bargained for. The history lesson was decent and it demonstrated that a great deal of research time was spent. This was my first book by this author and despite the fact that I did not enjoy it, I will read others. Better luck next time Ms. McMillian!

Summary: A must read!
Review: I absolutely loved this book. The characters seemed like members of my own family. Reading about the city of Memphis, Tennessee was very interesting, too. I've never been there, but after reading "This Side of Eternity," it's a place that I'd enjoy stopping through for a visit. I can't wait until Ms. McMillan writes her next novel. If it's anything like this one, I know it will be a page turner.

Summary: too many charactors and plots
Review: I feel this book had great potential, but Ms Mcmillan had too many plots twist and under developed charactors.
1. Isaboel Ford was book unto her self, her reasoning for hating Anne and her family were totally unbelievable. I thought Isobel would have more direct connection to Anne to justify her obession.

2. Basil turned out to be a half way loving son and devoted brother but early on in book, great detail was given to fact he was a Jr. Monstert i the making.

3. Wesley's charactor totaly faded out.

4. Nikki's charactor totaly unbelievable.

I have read all of Ms Mcmillans book and one thing sticks out is all her novels have many plots, charactors but she is unable to string them together so you never really know any and leaves you feeling disconnected.

Summary: Engrossing
Review: I fell in love with Bentley Camille. She seemed so fragile and unloved. I could really relate to her character. The ending surpassed all of my expectations.

Summary: Rush Hour Delight!!!!
Review: I had this book on my shelf for a while. (Nothing personal.)

Note:I usually buy books in three's or fours. I just finished reading..Any Way the Wind Blows and haphazardly picked up Rosalyn's latest book-This Side of Eternity from my shelf.

This was a definite page turner! The characters are real.Rosalyn completed her research thoroughly because the books historical context weaves in and out with the essence of the characters movements. She has crafted the concept of poverty, pain and tragedy through love and hardship which result in a twisted strand of mental related breakdowns(in various forms. One note to mention- she skillfully crafted the powers of God's spirit and words into the guidance of her characters along with their actions.
She has crafted the skill of showing how African Americans can survive mental hardships that white America has edured from the beginning, so this idea is definitely not a fatality only among the caucasion ranks only.

As an avid reader, I see how her writing skill has worked an incredible magic that resulted in a possessive page turner for myself. I finished the book about 3am this morning and I feel satisfied that her next novel will be an equivalent MUST read.
