Summary: Since I couldn't afford a trip to Ireland ...
Review: ...I bought this book, and it was the next best thing. Lisa Hendrix writes an intelligent and witty romance that shows what happens when women take steps to remind men just how much they need the opposite sex. Ms. Hendrix easily tackles the difficult task of following the everyday life of an entire village. In my stroll through Kilbooly, I met many interesting and memorable characters. I especially loved Finn the Magnificent. I'm looking forward to her next book.

Summary: You lie, I lie, everything lies
Review: A romance built on deception, a heroine who is *this* close to being Ally McBeal, and lots of annoying doormats eager to please their man in one dull concoction. Ugh.

This story has promise, but the author relies on lazy, stereotypical characters that ultimately bogs the whole story down. Let's see - the heroine who believes 100% in the hero after her first ooh-la-la (convincing, I'm sure) and then is led on like a puppy by that man, for one. Or another one about how women can't say or do anything without uttering the M and C bad words? (Marriage and commitment, darling.)

"To Marry An Irish Rogue" is definitely ho-hum, I'm afraid.

Summary: Top of the line for Irish Eyes
Review: After reading all of the books in this new line from Jove, I find the only one that comes close to capturing the essence of Ireland is Ms Hendrix's book. It is bold in its inception and cunning in its delivery. She has done a wonderful job of creating Irish syntax making one feel as if they are right there in County Clare. The story doesn't disappoint with a collection of stories within a story sure to leave the reader well satisfied. It is exciting to find a new voice who has joined the ranks of Joann Ross and Nora Roberts in giving us an Ireland to love.

Summary: This is what a book should be like!
Review: For me this was a perfect book, and I rarely say this. (-:

It was my first book by Lisa Hendrix, and I won't stop here.

The book was well balance, had a great sub characters and great environment. At times it was really funny, and had some great love scenes.

The hero and the heroine had a great relationship. They meet, there is a spark, they try to resist it, but not too much. They are reasonable, and you feel like it could have really happen. No murder mystery here, just two people falling in love.

Summary: A huge disappointment
Review: I love Ms. Hendrix' book Razzle Dazzle, and couldn't wait to buy To marry an Irish Rogue when it was first published. I must say, I have never been so disappointed before. The magic and the wit that made Razzle Dazzle so special, is missing altogether from this book. It is as if it has been written by a completely different person. What a let down.

Summary: a funny and rewarding read
Review: I loved Lisa Hendrix' book. Especially how realistic it portrayed County Clare. Yes, we do have mobile phones, laptop computers and are living in a modern society. We still enjoy a seisiun in the pub, a good gossip and a few pints but thank you, Lisa, for not having fairies and banshees popping up all over the place. The only wee quibble I have with the book is that the ending of the Brian/Tara conflict was a bit boring. I just wanted to get back to the village to find out what was happening. I'm looking foward to hearing more from Kilbooly in the future.

Summary: Excellent
Review: I read this book in one sitting - and it ended much too soon! Good plot development and interesting characters. Just a good read! You could picture yourself in the Irish town with all those interesting people. I bought more copies and sent them to friends because I was afraid I wouldn't get it back if I loaned my copy out. On my "keeper" shelf! Will be looking for more books by this author.

Summary: Memorable characters in classic romance
Review: In a quick getaway to the countryside of Ireland, Lisa Hendrix has penned a winner. Television reporter Tara and successful businessman Brian may sound like characters you've seen many times in romances, but be prepared to notice their depth and intelligence in this book. Their fresh conversations are much more enjoyable than those of most typical romances. Strong additional female characters also add to the story in a way not usually seen in this genre. This book provides a fulfilling respite from everyday hum-drum life. Enjoy!

Summary: A treat from Ireland
Review: In a search of a story about Brian Hanrahan, the millionarie businessman and hometown rogue, reporter Tara O'Connell finds a second story in the bachelor boycott planned by the women of Brian's home town of Kilbooly, Ireland. The women intend to cut off all their privileges until the bachelors come forth with marriage. But the men fashion themselves after their hometown hero, Brian, who has a different woman on his arm every night. Until reporter Tara O'Connell enters his life. She tries to dig up dirt on Brian and finds the real story behind his business activities instead, meanwhile falling in love with him, a definite conflict of interest when it comes to her reporter ethics. And she has turned his head and his heart as he, for the first time in his life, falls in love.

If you want to learn something about Ireland while enjoying the story line, read this book. It was very funny, bright, sexy, and not without its struggle. A wonderful story that will keep the midnight candle burning.

Summary: A Warm Irish Tale
Review: Lisa Hendrix has recreated Ireland right here in my living room. The women of Kilbooly seem to be suffering a crisis, their men don't want to take the final step towards marriage. The story of how they concieve a plan to show them the error of their ways is hilarious by itself, but when Tara O'Connell gets into the mix it takes off like a rocket! This story could easily have been mere comedy but it has more. There are many poignant moments for both the men and the women as it is revealed what is behind their actions. Tara is not just a reporter. Brian is not just a successful industrialist. They are real people with complex personalities and hidden agendas. Hendrix creates the atmosphere, the warmth of the village and the Irish people and you feel like you are right there with them. I can actually see Ireland in the pages and yet I understand she has never been there. The last time I was this warmed by a contemporary Irish tale, I was watching Waking Ned Devine which I still consider to be one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. We don't get enough contemporary stories of Ireland and this one, a full rich tale with well developed characters is the best book I have read this year. I highly recommend it.
