Rating: Summary: Didn't like the characters, didn't like the plot Review: My main problem with the book is that I don't like "rakes" as heros. If you do, then maybe you will like this book. I don't like heroes that sleep around and then suddenly reform when they find the "right woman." I didn't particularly care for the heroine either--she seemed too slavish to the ways of the ton for me. I prefer a heroine that is more original, and even a bit eccentric. I thought the bedroom scene after the wedding was a bit too much, focusing a lot on the physical aspects, but not very romantic--I'm not big on the "deflowering maidens" descriptions, in general)I have enjoyed other Joy Reed books very much(my favorite so far is The Duke and Miss Denny, which I would recommend instead of this book). If this had been the only Joy Reed book I had read, I wouldn't have bothered with others. As it is, I have found out that she has written much more enjoyable ones, so I haven't given up on her. At least two are on my keeper shelf(the one I just mentioned, and Twelfth Night), even though I discarded this one.

Rating: Summary: A delightful romp! Review: Personally, the Inconvienent Engagement was one of the best Regencies I have ever read. I was laughing the whole read. It was a real pick-me-up book that I positively devoured. I picked it up on Saturday morning, and by Saturday afternoon I had finished it! Most definitely highly recommended to any and all Regency fans!
Rating: Summary: a definite "read again" Review: This is one of the regencies I have read a couple of times. It has got nice "romantic tension" in it, the characters are well drawn and the book is nicely written with just the right pace in the development of the plot.
