Rating: Summary: Fun, Fun, Fun Review: "The Changeling Bride" is the story of Elle, a young woman somewhat disenchanted with life at the end of the 20th Century in America. She makes a wish that is surprisingly granted, sending her back in time and across the Atlantic to find what was missing in her life.Lisa Cach describes Elle's adventures and struggles with delightful humor and creativity. Elle is a modern woman, willing to change somewhat to fit into her new life in the 1790s, but who will not compromise when it comes to speaking up her mind. The environment will have to adapt to her also! And so we join the heroine as she ever so imaginatively introduces modern concepts such as pizza and birth control to 18th Century England. "The Changeling Bride" is highly entertaining and a most enjoyable read. Elle's adventures traveling across time have transported me along in a journey of my own, out of the very limiting reality we all live in into a world of endless possibility, where anything can happen. What a joy! It was as if I also traveled in time, back to my younger years when believing in magic, fairies and wishes come true was simply the way life worked itself out. How refreshing!
Rating: Summary: A TOUCH OF MAGIC MAKES ROMANTIC FANTASIES POSSIBLE Review: "The Changeling Bride" takes a modern woman and puts her in the midst of a century long past. This is a delightful concept for me, as a regular romance novel reader. After all, what are we doing when we read stories of this genre if not quietly longing for a different type of world, and putting ourselves in the place of the heroine? This book uses a traditional romance format and twists it - using a bit of magic - so that the fantasy becomes a bit more plausible. Ms. Cach also addresses several things in the plot that are conspicuously absent from other historical romance novels I have read, yet have always wondered about in the back of my mind. Namely, the issue of birth control, type of food available, and those embarrassing but necessary bodily functions. She attacks each subject with a touch of humor as well as practicality that makes for an interesting and entertaining tale. The best thing about the book, however, is the heroine herself. Because she is from our day and age, one can relate to her with ease. She is not a tiny-waisted and naive virgin, but a robust, healthy and somewhat cynical woman of modern America. We all dream about another day and age, but what would we do if we were truly given the 'opportunity' to experience it? "The Changeling Bride" offers us a glimpse into what the realities of the 1700's were, while maintaining the romantic aura necessary for a truly good read. I highly recommend this book and look forward to other titles by Ms. Cach.

Rating: Summary: A fun, sexy, historical romance with a twist Review: By the time I finished this book I was in tears. Thankfully the tears stemmed from my joy in having the book end just the way I would have hoped for. The premise for this story -- someone going back in time and having to deal with things they're not used to -- is not a fresh idea. But the way it is told in this story is. This book was fun, spunky, sexy, and full of romance. If you ever wondered how you'd feel if you were transported back in time, then read this book to find out. After finding herself transported back in time, Wilhelmina reacts in ways that I think I would act if I found myself in her predicament. She reacts to things in ways that women in historical times would not, which puts her in one predicament after another as she tries to hide her true identity in order to fit in. Her actions, which ring true, make it very easy to get immersed in the story. And to top it off, she finds herself entangled with a gorgeous man that has a sensitive side. What more can you ask for? The descriptions of events and the characters, as well as the interactions the characters have with each other makes you feel as if you're there along side them. So, if you're looking for a interesting and sexy historical romance, then look no farther ... you've found it. This is a good book. And the ending is great!

Rating: Summary: Good read -- but why bash Rush? Review: I enjoyed this book. It was funny and engrossing and I enjoyed the period details that too many books skipped over. Unlike one of the other reviewers, I did not mind that fairies caused the time travel. After all, time travel itself is a fantasy, so if we accept time travel for the purpose of the book, we can accept fairies as well. The fairy part wasn't overdone anyway. The one thing that dismayed me was that the author took the time -- in a Georgian romance, yet! -- to bash Rush Limbaugh and, by extension, all of his fans. As one of his fans I was offended by her cavalier statement that Rush and people who think the way he does (pretty much every conservative in America) are illogical, inaccurate and cruel. We conservatives obviously disagree with her assessment of us, but in my view the pages of a Georgian romance are not the place to debate politics. The author writes a decent novel, but if she must inject politics into them, I suggest that she should try to understand where the people she disagrees with are coming from, and respect our right to hold a different view even if she disagrees with us (i.e., not cheap insults), so her comments about conservatives don't offend her conservative readers.

Rating: Summary: I highly recommend it! Review: I really enjoyed reading The Changeling Bride by Lisa Cach. I liked that the hero and heroine were not perfect, but believable people with very human desires for love and affection. I liked that they meet across centuries and an ocean because of the interference of some well-meaning but occasionally inept fairies. I appreciated the sense of humor that pervades the descriptions of the heroine's adjustment to 18th-century English life (she's a 20th-century American), while Ms. Cach answers all the questions that lurk in the back of one's mind while reading historical novels. I've read a lot of romance novels and The Changeling Bride gets top marks for being a heart-warming, well-spun yarn. I am looking forward to reading Ms. Cach's next book.
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: I really enjoyed The Changeling Bride! Cach creates very believable characters. And against all odds, she makes the magical, time travel story 'logical.' I really enjoy time travel romances, and I highly recommend this book to readers with similar tastes.
