Her last relationship ended nine months ago, but that's all right, she has her work, however it can be demanding. That's why she often needs a good soak in a hot tub and a bottle of wine to get to sleep at night, especially after a tough case. And she is sleeping the sleep of the just one night when the phone wakes her at an ungodly hour. It's her friend Stephanie Pollard. Stephanie is an attorney who had gone to Harvard Law with Cindy. She's flighty, sleeps around on her husband Ben and has called to tell Cindy she's leaving Ben for Alec Mesner, who works in the New York office of her law firm. Alec is fifteen years Stephanie's senior and married as well. However, according to Stephanie, her husband is boring and too easy, whereas she and Alec are sophisticated, refined and meant for each other. And Steph wants Cindy to handle her divorce. Against her better judgement, Cindy agrees. The next day she meets with hubby Ben and daughter Ashley, only to learn that Steph hasn't told Ben as she'd promised, instead she left the unpleasant task to Cindy. Angry, Ben throws Cindy out. In court Cindy makes mince meat out of Ben's inexperienced attorney, however as the case develops she finds she's on the wrong side. She falls in love with Ben, withdraws from the case and now she has a problem. Should she risk her career and advise Ben's attorney or should she stay out of it as she's been ordered?
