Summary: predictable
Review: ...and it's not an attractive trait in a hero. That's my first and major problem with this book. Another issue was that Ms. Palmer spent the first 3 chapters explaining the characters and their circumstances over and over. The next was that our hero, Tate, went through much of the book as an angry man. That gets very old. Further, for characters who place so much value on honesty, they certainly spent enough time lying.

This book is standard Palmer fare. The heroine is virginal and scared of sex, the hero is forceful and dark-complexioned. There were some plot holes and odd decisions that further weakened this book, yet, I can't pan it entirely because it was an all right read. The hero even explains his decision to make racist decisions, but it was too little and too late for me to believe it.

There are some old Palmer books where her formula works very well. This isn't one of them. I won't be reading the next one in the series.

Summary: Do not judge this book by its cover...
Review: ...because it has nothing to do with the inside. I thought the story was about a cowboy-one of Palmer's infamous Long Tall Texans-it's about a secret agent. When you read the back cover the heroine's name is not the same as the inside.

This book was clearly not read by any of the editors at MIRA. There were little inconsistent things throughout the text that drove me absolutely crazy.

Pass this book up, and wait for a reprint of one of her older books.

Summary: So glad I gave it a chance!
Review: After reading the reviews here - either folks loved this book or they hated it - I checked it out from the library. Then as soon as I finished I ran out and bought a copy for my very own. What a terrific story! Unlike some other reviewers, I like that Tate has strong pride in his heritage. That makes it easy to understand his anguish at loving someone he doesn't think is who he needs. That makes the relationship all the more special, because the reader gets to see him grow and change and learn what is most important.

This was my first Diana Palmer novel, but it certainly won't be my last!

Summary: Her love for him was like a paper rose.
Review: Cecily Peterson had always loved Tate Winthrop, ever since he had rescued her from her step-father. And though she loves him still, she has gradually come to accept that there will never be a future between them. Tate is obsessed with keeping his bloodlines pure, and refuses to have a "half breed" child. If he marries, it will be a 100% Lakota woman. So Cecily buries her love in her studies, majoring in archaeology. But once she learns that Tate had lied to her and had been paying for her living expenses and tuition all along, she quits graduate school, moves into another apartment, and gets a job in a new museum dedicated to Native American culture.

Tate Winthrop ended up with a lap full of crab bisque once Cecily learned that he, and not a scholarship, had been funding her schooling. Still, despite his anger, he was still attracted to Cecily, but he wouldn't cross that line - until a moment came along that swept them both away. But Tate is in the middle of a shocking political scandal, though he doesn't yet know it, and once he learns the truth, he may turn his back on his family, and Cecily, forever.

This book was okay. I bought the reissue from HQN books, a new line from Harlequin. Tate left me cold as a hero. Not only was Cecily's friend, Colby Lane, much more interesting and exciting to me, but Tate was a racist - or at least was hiding behind racism to justify not getting involved with Cecily. That just made my blood run cold. I'm 3/4 Hispanic and originally from Mexico. My race is a mixed race, a mixture of native peoples, white (Spaniards especially), and black. Since there were very few slaves in Mexico, we are primarily a mixture of white and native. So the whole time Tate was waxing on about how he didn't want a mixed baby, I felt like he was putting me down, and my entire people down. So Tate did absolutely nothing for me except to infuriate me.

As for the character of Cecily, I don't know what she saw in the guy. Sure, he helped her escape from her step-father, so of course she should be grateful for that, but he kept pushing her away, being mean to her, and deliberately flaunting his relationships with other women in her face. The funny thing is, all of his other women were white and blonde but he wouldn't date Cecily because she was white and blonde. Yeah, that makes sense. I was really hoping Cecily would hook up with Colby, but oh well. Hopefully Ms. Palmer will give him his own book, he was worth 10 of Tate!

Tate did attempt to redeem himself in the end, but it was too little too late. I'm not going to give up on Diana Palmer as an author, but I surely hope she doesn't write more about more racist heroes. I'll definitely look forward to a book about Colby, however, if one is written about him (and I hope so!).

Summary: Paper Rose - A bouquet of passion
Review: I enjoy the way Diana Palmer weaves characters from one book into another. I enjoyed the conflict between the protagonists and the fact that the heroine wasn't a push over. She was a strong willed woman in her own right. Also, that she declared herself from the beginning. There were little quirks that made the book a very good read for any Palmer fan.

Summary: predictable
Review: I expected so much more from Tate-he was predictably bitter and prejudiced. Cecily is a wimp! I have read Ms.Palmer for years and I was disappointed in Tate & Cecily's story. What century does this woman come from? Tate was lukewarm at best, we all knew he would wack off his hair(heaven forbid if we had a long-haired hero). Colby was far more dangerous and had more sex appeal than anyone else in this story! The plot was "blaaah". All in all, this story was lacking the magic that Diana Palmer is capable of. Better luck next time.

Summary: i liked it alot
Review: I generally stay away from contemporary romances but i kinda liked this one i mean it had two strong characters, and it had suspense, and i rather liked the love story. i don't think it was too predictable i understood Tate and his childhood and cecily had her hangups too, but in this case we do realise that they love each other mainly because they have known each other so long and the sparks were always there, i think this book is a keeper.

Summary: Sorry Miss Palmer
Review: I have been a big fan of Ms. Palmer for a long time and couldn't wait for her books to come out. This is the third book that I have bought in the past 1.5-2 years that have totally disappointed me. I could practically write her books - they are all the same and predictable that the pages that should be exciting aren't. And this book follows the norm. I would like her to write a novel with some surprises in it - a older woman perhaps or maybe a likeable guy.
