Rating: Summary: Thought I Was Reading Zane's Book Review: I really enjoyed this book. The sex scenes were hot! I didn't think they were degrading or slutty, they were entertaining like reading Zane's novels. The book was actually looking at the different women's relationship issues. Each women had a different issue. It went through their individual story and at the end told what they learned throughout their experiences. I laughed out loud on many parts. It was just a very enjoyable read for me, and I have never heard of this book. I just stumbled up on it, and I am glad I did.
Rating: Summary: A fresh take.... Review: I think this book is an original. I chose it for its short stories format, and I enjoyed every word. The plots flowed nicely, and the girls are each different, with a different issue. It was a fast read. It's not a deep, life changing book. Just good enough to make you laugh, holler at the characters, lose yourself in their drama, and kick your feet up while you sip a favorite summer drink. And that's what I did!
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: I was excited when I first started to read this book but was unimpressed with the author's un-originality and simplicity. The way the characters thought led me to believe they were not as educated as the narrative told us they were. They reminded me of unexperienced college women and I wondered whether there were many black women out there like them. I certainly don't know any of them. I'm sure the author has talent (otherwise, she would never have been published) but her talent did not appear within the pages of this book. By the time I read the third story or "novella" I was ready to put the book down in disgust but for some reason, continued to read on in hopes that it did get better. I think the author and publisher tried too hard to make it similar to the popular show "Sex and the City". It's definitely not a book I would recommend to others. The stories are not original, I didn't feel sympathetic for any of the characters, and the use of present tense narrative I think, confused the author. More power to Ms. Reid for being able to put out the book, but frankly, I think it needed a lot more thought. The stories seemed rushed, and the way everything was tied up together at the end of each story in a neat little package is not how life goes. I found myself growing impatient and angry with the ladies of the book and by the time I put the book down, I was relieved (my downfall is HAVING to finish a book no matter how much I do not enjoy it). Of course, this is only my opinion and I may have many people disagree with it.
Rating: Summary: Seriously Lacking Substance Review: I was really excited about reading this book because of the great cover and all the hype surrounding it before it came out, calling it the black version of Sex in the City. While I feel the author has potential, I did not enjoy this book. All the novellas seemed pretty much identical and none of the characters moved me at all. I did not feel a connection or care about any of them. I am a single black woman and to read a book about a bunch of hard-up sisters trying to get men that either do not want them or men that want them but they are too silly to realize it was halfway humiliating. I wish the author well with future projects but this one leaves a lot to be desired.
Rating: Summary: Love has No Boundaries Review: I'm a White woman living in Long Island. I picked this book up after seeing it in a major magazine (I read so many, can't remember which one). I was curious as to what similiarities would there be between white and black women on the dating scene. I found the book so revealing. Perhaps, even universally appealing. Three of the five stories in the book happened to me! And I responded the same way to most of them. I found myself smiling and laughing at the lovely, witty characters Ms. Reid has drawn for her readers. The sex scenes made me happy to go home to my boyfriend! I absolutely loved this book and have passed it on to friends. Of course, they are going to have to get their own copy!
Rating: Summary: Gotta Luv It..... Review: I'm not a big reader, but I had to pick this book up on the title alone. I read it within days. Being single, I really like the sex scenes. It was raw and true. Sometimes everything cant be romantic. I think the stories were different, but each girl had the same issues. More or less. I know I had at least 3 of those issues! I dont know why they chose that excerpt...but there was a great part in Chapter 3. Those of you who read know what I'm talking about. I never read short stories before, but may start now.

Rating: Summary: A Good Read Review: I'm not good at writing letters, but I must say this book was the [best]! There's nothing like it. At first, I was a little tense reading it because of the graphic ... scenes, but when I loosened up, I went for the ride!

Rating: Summary: I'm waiting... Review: I'm still waiting for this book to get really good and I'm done reading it! I did in fact take this book on vacation with me and it took me seven days to finish it! I usually read a really good book in one - three days. The book is not the worse I have read, but certainly it not one of the better ones. For a debut I guess, it will suffice.
