Rating: Summary: A Great Mystery Review: I loved this book and have read it twice now. I thought it was interesting and exciting. The main characters Olivia and Noah touched my heart. There was not a ton of romance but for that I was thankful. Sometimes too much romance and not enough action can not only bore me but leave me feeling yuck. I respect Nora's ability to tell a riveting story that not only lets you see love and fairy tales but also the gritty, real side of life. I understand not every one sees murder and mayhem in their own family every day, but how many people grow up to be cinderella? The ending was good although slighty short but I was never real sure just who the killer was until the end. I guess I'm no Nancy Drew. Overall a good read, can't wait for the next one.
Rating: Summary: Pleasant but more murder than romance... Review: Nora Roberts seems to be heading away from romance and concentrating on adventure with a splash of love. I miss the old style, having found her romance stories full of engaging characters and lots of sizzle. Yep, I'm missing the sizzle. The characters are engaging but the murder mystery is the main course with only a side of romance. If you are looking for mystery and romance, author J.Evanovich provides both. Nora wants to spread her wings, that's her right as a writer. But I'm missing the sizzle!
Rating: Summary: One of the best Nora Roberts books yet Review: I have always enjoyed reading Nora Roberts books and this one did not let me down. I was up night after night until after 2 a.m. fascinated by the twists and turns of this story. I had my doubts about Sam Tanner being the real murderer but I never would have guessed the ending. The way she brings out the characters of Olivia and Noel are great. This is a must ready if you like to be surprised by an ending.
Rating: Summary: This time, judge a book by it's cover! Review: I'm sure all of you know the old saying when choosing a book to read, DON'T JUDGE A BOOK BY IT'S COVER? Well this time ignore the old saying. The illustrations on the cover of this book live up to and provide a perfect description of the book. The characters that Ms. Roberts portrays in this story seem to leap out from the pages and into the imagination of the reader. The characters are well defined and realistic. I became very involved in the story and finished the book in two days. I am a huge fan of the mystery/suspense and romantic genres and this book satisfied my urges for both genres. The only drawback to this book is the predictable and lackluster ending. I figured out who the killer was when I was halfway through the book. When Olivia faces her mother's killer, her reaction seemed unemotional and unconvincing. The well-written characters and the love story between the young couple is good enough to keep the story interesting. Nora Roberts wrote such a sexy love scene between the two young lovers that it made me want more. A definite MUST READ!
Rating: Summary: Very Disappointing Review: The characters were not fleshed out well and not very sympathetic. The first half to two-thirds of the audiotape were promising but that early promise was not realized in the end. The last third of the tape which led to the climax was not believable nor convincing. Noah's character was unbelievably dull-witted for someone who had supposedly solved previous murders. As a child, Olivia was interesting and sympathetic in her quest to find out what really happened to her mother. But the adult Olivia seemed to have lost her curiousity about her past and it was difficult for the listener to care either. And the book went rapidly down hill from there to a very flat and predictable conclusion. I would be unlikely to read any more of this author's books after this one.
Rating: Summary: River's End Review: I can't think of a Nora Robert's book that I haven't liked... But this was the first myster"ish" and now I'll start her J.D. Robb books.
Rating: Summary: Not her best but entertaining enough Review: I'm a Nora Roberts fan and enjoyed the book while I read it, although I did feel it tended to drag in places, especially in the overly-lengthy descriptions of the forest in the Pacific Northwest. I too had my "guess" as to who the killer was fairly early on, but it didn't diminish my enjoyment as it did for some readers -- it just made me want to find out if I was right. Noah was a very well-written character but I felt that Olivia could have been fleshed out better. Despite the tragic loss of her parents at such a young age she somehow didn't come across as all that sympathetic a character. A good book, worthwhile reading, but not one I plan to read again soon.
Rating: Summary: River's End Review: It took me almost a month to finish it and till I thumbed through the last 10 pages and found the solution to the mystery, it didn't seem to worth all of the efforts. Despite the complicated plot and slow paced, however, it's got romance, horror, humanity, impressive scenery. Overall, it's still a good read.
Rating: Summary: Not a keeper. Review: With Nora's best romantic suspense books, it doesn't matter if I know "who done it" - I reread them many times because I love the characters. With River's End, I couldn't get involved with these people and only read to the end to enjoy the solution to the mystery. Now it's no longer a mystery, I have no reason to keep it around. Sorry, Nora. In contrast - I just LOVED "Hidden Riches", have read it several times and would recommend it to anyone!
Rating: Summary: Awesome Book-Real Page Turner!! Review: I just finished River's End and could not put it down. Nora Roberts just keeps getting better and better. I can't wait for her next book!! Read River's End, you will not be disappointed!!
