Rating: Summary: Wealth, Romance, & a Hunt for Traitors Review: I found this review on the back of my paper back version of this book.In Jess Ramsay's thoroughbred world, you held your head high even though your heart was breaking. So, although Major Vance Trent had gone to another girl's arms, Jess carried on as proudly as before. There was the Red Cross and Aunt Ellen's plantation to help run, and, above all, the perils of subversive infiltrators. With the recklessness of dispairing love, Jess threw herself into the hunt for traitors-only to find, at her blackest hour, the courageous figure of Vance Trent by her side... This next came from a prologue page. "Did you drop from heaven?" He asked in delirium. "You look like the angel in my Sunday School book." He closed his eyes and lovely Jess Ramsay's heart almost stopped. It wasn't every day a handsome Major parachuted onto the lawns of Karrisbrooke, Aunt Ellen's great Plantation. Major Vance Trent recovered completely, but Jess never did. For almost immediately left her for another girl. Staunchly, Jess went on, pursued by a married man, parrying the attentions of a hansome fortune hunter-all to gain knowledge of a plot agaist the war effort. Little did she know that Vance Trent was working toward the same end;they would meet again one velvet midnight to embrace in the heart of danger... This book is a great romance and still has good mystery and suspense. It's also clean(except for one or two "D"s), which is very hard to find in a Romance novel these days. Even though, it's set in the 1940s' it's still a great book. Enjoy your reading!
