Summary: Falls far short
Review: Okay, I was thinking I couldn't lose with this one. Time travel - good. Medieval times - good. Romance - good. Ha! This particular mix is not good. It has its moments - the character of Merlin is particularly memorable. However, the whole premise has faults - Camelot? Galahad? Hunting for the Holy Grail? It's all so fabled already that it would take greater talent than Ms. Alexander's to add to its mythology.

I particularly couldn't believe the main character, Tessa. She's an assistant professor of literature, yet she behaves so juvenilely about her clothing and the inconveniences of the past? Please - grow up. I liked Galahad for the most part; although, what's the poor guy supposed to do with that name in the 20th century?

I have yet to read more Alexander books. I hope the rest are better. For truly excellent time-travel romance, check out Lynn Kurland.

Summary: Poorly written
Review: One of the more poorly written books I have ever read. The leading female character is supposedly a bright associate professor teaching ancient history and speaks as if she is a cab driver with a 6th grade education (yet somehow, medieval Britons understand most of what she says!). As for the love scenes, there was nothing "hot" about them -- try Virginia Henley if you want to read hot love scenes. I'll be leaving this author on the bookself.

Summary: The most unlovable heroine ever
Review: The basic plot of the book was fun, and could have been better. Tessa St. James, a professor specializing in myths and ledgends, is taken by Merlin to Camelot. She mets and with much complaining helps Galahad by going on a quest. The problem with this book was the heroine, she is annoying. She obviously hates Arthurian ledgends, and her "expertise" brings nothing to the story. The reader is left feeling that Galahad could do better than Tessa, and he should just get rid of her. The Merlin character is strange, but just quirky enough to be amusing. The story is jumbled and wastes time on secondary characters instead of developing the main ones. This book was very dissapointing.

Summary: BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ!!!
Review: THE STORY WAS NOT ONLY ROMANTIC, BUT ALSO FUNNY. I LOVED THE BOOK SO MUCH THAT I COULDN'T STOP READING UNTIL I FINISHED IT.

Summary: Excellent Escapist Fiction
Review: This book is great! I expected it to be a little silly but instead found it satisfying and thoroughly entertaining. Ms. Alexander strikes the perfect balance between modern skepticism and fairytale magic. I especially liked her description of the dynamic between Arthur, Lancelot, and Guinevere; and the archery scene is hilarious! It made me laugh out loud.

Trust me: you will not be disappointed.

Summary: Chivalry is not dead!
Review: This book was recommended to be by Amazon.com's "Recommendations". I am very glad I checked out that link!

I enjoy time-travel books, and I find the Camelot legend quite interesting and entertaining. This book wasn't quite perfect, but it was pretty close.

Tessa St. James is smart and brave, with a decent sense of humor. Her "Big Guy", Galahad, couldn't succeed in the Quest without her. Bravo to authors of romance novels who write strong female characters!

Galahad is strong and chivalrous, as one would expect a Knight of the Round Table to be. Together, they make quite a team.

This book could have done without Merlin's girlfriend, Viviane. She was whiny and spoiled, and frankly, Merlin (being the Wizard that he is) could have done much better.

All in all, this was a good book, and thanks again, Amazon, for recommending it to me!

Summary: Magical
Review: This book will ensnare and enchant you from the very first page. A Time travel book that takes our heroine back to the days of Camelot. A surprising twist on an old story. I was entertained from the very first page. "Believe" is Magical.

Summary: Humorous page turner from beginning to end!!
Review: This is the first book I've read by Victoria, and won't be the last! Her unique twist on the story of Camelot, Merlin, Sir Galahad was excellent! Victoria uses great humor and the interplay between the two main characters is very captivating. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a quick read!

Summary: Read this and you too will BELIEVE!
Review: This is the first Victoria Alexander novel I've ever read and I ***adored*** it! It is laugh-out-loud funny - one of those books that you probably don't want to read in a public place - unless of course, you enjoy causing a scene. The dialouge between Tessa and all of the characters was fresh and witty. The minor characters were incredibly well drawn and and the sub-plot between Merlin and Viviane was delightful. And let's not forget the Big Guy himself. It would be very easy to fall in love with Galahad! Great job Victoria!

Summary: This is a very interesting/funny/romance story. Love it!
Review: This story is so original. I love the dialog between Tessa & Merlin. Tessa is such a fiesty type person. & the harmony with him is great. I started reading it today & and am almost through. I hate it when something this good ends too soon. Just waiting for another of her books to come out. Keep up the good work Victoria. Henny
