Summary: An exploration of relationships
Review: An excellent story which delves into relationships between mothers and daughters, friends, and the ever intriguing male/female relationships. The author is skilled at tying all these together in the book. But the most important is self-examination and self-love, which the main character, Carol-Anne finds after many painful false starts.

Summary: I LOVED IT!
Review: As a single parent, i found myself wanting to slap Carol Ann for having what all single women want - a man that wants her and her child. I do like the fact that Carol Ann took her time to find herself and to grow and decided to wait to make sure that while he SEEMED to be a good man that he WAS - despite his hang-ups with the difference in their backgrounds. Once again Ms. MJ-H has done it again. And more so with this one. She will definately get my $$ when the hardcover is published. Much success in all that you do

Summary: GOOD STORY ABOUT FALSE PRIDE
Review: Carol-Anne was a single mom with a lot of false pride. When her prince charming (Max) tried to make life better for her, she was ungrateful (at first). I understand that she had low self-esteem stemming from childhood, but sometimes we are our own worse enemies. She waited over 8 years before she pursued child support from a man who obviously could afford to pay it. She prostituted herself for child support when there was no need for such self-degrading behavior. I was happy that she finally found the strength to get counseling and improve her self-esteem. If she hadn't she never would have gotten back together with Max. "A New Day" was a very insightful, consciousness-raising story. At the end you felt good for Carol-Anne, her daughter Nadia, and Max.

Summary: A rich, warm, powerful urban Cinderella story
Review: Choices, we all make them. This is a tale of choices, some good, some bad. I could sympathize with Carol-Anne's struggle as a single mother. Becoming a single mother, though, was a decision she made with her eyes wide open. The consequences were what she hadn't fully thought out. She is a heroine with whom we can all identify. Occasionally, her love for her daughter, Nadia is her one redeeming quality. But, we still love her. Max, the prince in this tale is also a fully flesh and blood human being. He has his faults, but you never doubt, for one minute that he isn't loyal to the very bone. I loved this story. I even enjoyed the peripheral characters, like Carol-Anne's mother, Clarice; her daughter, Nadia's best friend, CeCe and last but not least, the feisty, Tina, Carol-Anne's best friend from Spanish Harlem. A wonderful novel. Don't miss it.

The characters are very true to life. Carol-Anne is a strong confident women and Max helps open her eyes and our eyes to the fact that anyone can make life better for themselves if they tried.

Summary: REAL LIFE ACCOUNT OF A SINGLE MOTHER
Review: I could not put this book down. I could totally relate to Carol-Anne and her struggle as a single mother. I respected the fact that she was not ready to jump at the first man that came her way as her way out. And someone to take care of her and her daughter. She showed a lot of pride. And Max he was a single mom's dream come true. He was as interested in her daughter's happiness as he was Carol-Anne. This is a feel good book. This book proves there is always hope for A NEW DAY. A MUST READ I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN.

Summary: A GREAT READ!
Review: I could not put this book down. The book continues the story of Max and Carol Ann,(The Real Deal)this time from Carol Ann's perspective. The author retells some of the events and it's really interesting how the characters perceive situations and the way they really are. Normally in relationship novels we have upwardly mobile characters dating the same in this book we have handsome loving and strong Max who has made it and tries to help Carol Ann who is working hard but is still struggling. I really like the writing style Ms. Hodge certainly has a way with words.

Summary: A great read!
Review: I enjoyed A New Day Immensely. Ms. Johnson-Hodge has a way of creating realistic characters and allowing me the priviledge of viewing their story as if they were my own family. I'm glad she chose to share this story with us. Keep them coming. Carmen Green
