Summary: Beautifully written
Review: KC McKinnon's story is beautifully written and told. Candles On Bay Street encompasses many kinds of love. All of which the author describes so well in a flowing prose. I think the sadness in the book is far from contrived, but there to make the reader feel and think beyond her/himself. KC McKinnon is a wonderful author who always seems make her charcaters come alive.

Summary: the most moving book i have ever read
Review: Not many books grab me to the point of buying them as gifts for others, but CANDLES had so many poignant moments that I just had to share it with my sister and my daughter. I have read most of Cathie's books and easily identify with the characters and how they think and act.

Summary: So good, I gave as gifts
Review: Not many books grab me to the point of buying them as gifts for others, but CANDLES had so many poignant moments that I just had to share it with my sister and my daughter. I have read most of Cathie's books and easily identify with the characters and how they think and act.

Summary: The book was a sweet book on friendship.
Review: The book was interesting. Made me think in the old relationships I had has a kid. How my life is far from those old friend and the good old times.

Summary: Not the book I thought I had purchased
Review: The description on the dust jacket made the book sound intriguing and mysterious. But once I started reading, it was your run-of-the-mill romance. The "mystery" was more depressing than shocking, and that made the last half of the book was slow and predictable. What disappoints me is that I paid for a hardcover book, and it took me only an hour to read it.

The afterword in the book described the basis for all the characters. In my opinion, the book was too autobiograpical. It is a work of fiction, and the story became bogged down with the references to reality.

Summary: An emotional and beautiful rollacoaster
Review: This beautiful novel takes you through the life of two childhood friends. One, Sam, still carries a torch for Dee Dee (the girl that left their friendship so many years before to be with the guy with the flashy car). It's a beautifully written novel that takes you through their childhood, through the undying memories of first love, down to Sam's new life and good wife, to live's true test...read it and you won't be sorry. But make sure to have tissues near by.

Summary: OK for a summer read.
Review: This book is not earth-shattering, but not bad either. A good light read. (A little too light for the price of a hard cover.)

Summary: A wonderful, poignant story!
Review: This guy Gus Rolfe, in the previous review, must be asleep at the wheel. Why would Cathie Pelletier, as K. C. McKinnon, try to hide her real name of Pelletier in CANDLES ON BAY STREET when her previous book, the paperback for DANCING AT THE HARVEST MOON, tells us that the author is Cathie Pelletier? (Gus says he works at a bookstore. Maybe he should try auto mechanics instead.) Last month I just watched a rerun of an interview with the author of this book, on a TV show called A WORD ON WORDS, and it sure didn't sound like she was on a deadline when she wrote this! Just the opposite. It's a lovely book and my book club in Salt Lake City adored it so much we went looking for all the Pelletier books as well. A terrific writer!

Summary: A One-Sitting Book....
Review: This is a quick read, but a touching one. If you're looking for a story about life, love and loss, this might be the one for you. I picked it up, like others, looking for some relationship drama when the back discussed old high school loves meeting up after many years. I certainly did not get what was expected, but I was moved by the story enough to tear up, something I rarely do while reading. If you're looking for a light read, a pick-me-upper, I wouldn't recommend this one. But if you're in the mood for something a little more serious that might make you take a look at life a little differently, at least temporarily, then I would recommend this title.

Summary: read it soon
Review: This is one of those books that you must add to your must read list. I read it a couple of years ago and picked it up again to re-read and loved it all over again. You will get involved right away with the characters in the book and laugh and cry with them. If you read Dancing at the Harvest Moon and enjoyed that one then you will absolutely fall head over heals over this one.
