Summary: IF THE TRUTH HURTS SAY "OUCH"
Review: IT SEEMS TO ME THAT HALF THE PEOPLE READING THIS BOOK NEVER HAD "DRAMA" IN THEIR LIFE.I FOUND THE BOOK TO BE VERY ENTERTAINING AND DOWN RIGHT TRUE. ALL THE CHARACTERS ARE SUCCESSFUL BLACK MEN AND WOMEN GOING THRUE THE TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS OF RELATIONSHIPS,PARENTING,AND MOST OF ALL MIDDLE AGE B.S. I FEEL THAT THE BLACK WOMEN WERE PORTRAYED VERY WELL,AND YES THERE ARE WOMEN OUT THERE WHO ARE JUST AS SUCCESSFUL AS ANGELA AND JUST AS SCANDALOUS AS VALERIE.EVERY TIME A BLACK MAN WRITES ABOUT BLACK WOMEN EVERYONE WANTS TO SAY HOW NEGETIVE HE IS BUT LOOK AT HOW BLACK MEN ARE PORTRAYED IN WOMENS BOOKS.IN CLOSING I WOULD LIKE TO COMEND MICHAEL ON WRITING A BOOK BY A BLACK MAN FOR A BLACK MAN,I GUESS THE PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T LIKE THE BOOK JUST DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT GOES ON WITH MIDDLE AGE SUCCESSFUL BLACK MEN AND THIER "DRAMA".

"LOOKING FORWARD TO THE MAINTENANCE MAN"

KEEP DOIN' YOUR THING! OH AND IF YOU FIND GRAMATICAL ERRORS IN MY REVIEW I APPOLOGIZE THAT'S HOW I TALK WHEN I'M TALKIN' TO ANOTHER BROTHA.

Summary: Didn't amount to the hype...
Review: The book's title caught my attention but when I got home to read it, I was not at all enthused by it. First of all, he made a lot of mistakes. He started writing the book in a first person voice, then towards the end, it became third person. As everyone else has said, I noticed that there were a lot of grammatical errors. I remember Michael mentioning that he published the book himself, but couldn't he have hired an editor to go over the manuscript with him to catch all of these mistakes? Another thing, it was so unrealistic. If these characters were so "sophisticated" and "classy" as the author "supposedly" made them to be, why were they fighting with someone on every other page? I just thought there was too much drama involved and it really didn't have much substance, let alone, a real plot. I'm all for giving authors another chance so I'm gonna pick up The Maintanence Man. Hopefully, he's gotten better.

Summary: Terrible
Review: I read this book and there were two things that stood out for me. First, there were so many errors in the book (grammatical, spelling, etc...) that I almost gave up reading it. It's bad enough not having an interesting story (which this book did not have) but it's even worse when the writing is horrible. After I finally attempted to get past the numerous errors, I found that this book just did not have much substance. The characters seemed superficial and one-dimensional and I just could not get into this book. I know that Michael Baisden has another book out ("Maintenance Man") but the bookstore would have to take EVERY book off the shelf besides that one in order for me to try another book by this man. Do not waste your money on this book!

Summary: Men they rise and they fall!
Review: This was a good book to read it tells the men and the women side of things. Especially the baby momma drama at least both sides were expressed in that situation. Also, a man learns he can not have his cake and eat it too. You must read the book to know all the diffrent issues that goes on with these men and women.

Summary: Too Many Mistakes
Review: The main idea of the book was a good idea, however the more and more I read the worse the mistakes became. After a while I took out a red pen and began circling all of the errors. Not only was it a distraction to find that many mistakes, but the content of the story line begain to lack as well. The dialect selected for the conversations between characters was out dated and should have been revisited. Over all the book gave good examples of the different kinds of relationships that we often have to endure but the numerous errors were far too distracting while reading the book and unexceptable for a second book.

Summary: Brother Love
Review: I enjoyed reading MCITD. I enjoyed the relationship between Derrick, Tony, Mark, & Ben. It is so nice to see friendship surviving in these troubled times. I don't understand all the negative reviews the book received. After all this is fiction! I wish Michael Baisden much success and blessings. Peace!

Summary: Men Cry in the Dark
Review: I thought the book was excellent, from the characters to the situations they encountered. It is not often that you get to read a book that you can really identify with or see yourself in it, but as a African American Man, I saw a little of myself in all of the Men from the story, and just like them I've cried and still persevered. Bravo Michael keep up the good work , forget the playa haters.

Summary: Can I Give It Half A Star?
Review: I selected this book for my book club and I have to say, I am ashamed. I chose this book because it was suppose to be a "unique" viewpoint. The storyline was weak, the characters were underdeveloped and the book reeked of materialism. What was the point? I hope his next book is better developed. I wouldn't recommend this one to anyone.

Summary: Bad Grammar?
Review: Well, I gave the book one star (because it is the lowest) and I have not even read it. I was going through the reviews to see if I wanted to order. Comments were from one extreme to the next but when I read the comment about a few grammar errors I stopped there. No book, no matter who the author is, should be released and expect to get high ratings with grammar errors. The story line may be good to a lot of readers but we should not settle for poor grammar. If it was the publishers fault I hope the author has a new one. A book published with errors is an insult.

Summary: FANTASTIC
Review: Without a doubt this book was excellent! Very nicely written about men showing love toward their mates, toward each other and toward life in general. I cant wait until I buy all of Michaels books because he is a must read!
