Summary: Maybe next time
Review: This was the first book I've read from Michael and it was good but not what I expected. I've heard so much about this man, heard him on the radio, even seen him on Montell. Don't get me wrong I liked the book but....It just did'nt grab me. I like his style of writting so I brought another novel of his The Maintenance Man and I hope I like this one better.

Summary: Why do men cry in the dark?
Review: I was very disappointed with this book. My book club chose to read this book because we thought we might gain some insight into why men sometimes hide their feelings, and why they refuse to let the women in their lives know what's in their hearts. We still do not have answers to those questions. As a matter of fact, there were quite a few questions, critical questions, we had after finishing the book. For example, who was Cedric? Cedric is never identified in the book. The reader is left to guess which character description belongs to Cedric. The author and the editor are responsible for that mistake. In addition to the unanswered questions that we all had, we were also not pleased with the author's lack of creativity and imagination. Instead of creating and describing his own original scenes, he simply wrote things such as "you remember that scene from such and such? Well it was just like that." How disappointing. There were many other problems with this book, but I just don't have enough room to write them all. To sum it up, my book club would not recommend this book to anyone.

Summary: Great Book!!!!!!!
Review: This is the first book I read from Michael Baisden and it was a page turner. I always love to read about relationship coming from the mans point of view cause you get to read what goes on thier mine throughout the story. Derrick had a learning experince when it came to his relationship with Angela which he thought he had control over but of course things twisted in another direction, it was kind of like getting his own medicine. Troy I admire for being loving and protecting father and lover towards his daughter and his relationship. Ben is a great and loving person also, but he had to learned the hard way when it comes rocking the craddle. Mark is also a great guy who you hate in the begining for loving one particular race (white females) but grow warm with understanding when it came to his needs and his life. This has been a great book and all four of the them has learn and become better man in the future, I look forward on reading his third book.

Summary: I ENJOYED IT,But Michael kinda categorized Young Black Woman
Review: I enjoyed this book because the lives of the characters were interesting. Each character was dealing with different issues with their love lives and careers.

But, I'm concerned about the negative opinions on younger woman I mean I'm 19 years old and I took offense toward how some charaters were downing young Black woman calling them GOLD DIGGERS, HOUCHIES, and UN EDUCATED. That's not true for all and they're some older woman 30+ years whom fit those names. Because I for one just turned 19 and I had moved out of my mom 's house when I was 18 and I'm putting myself through college full-time with HONORS while working a full- time job. I think he should've at least revealed a positive young woman in the book instead of negating all!

Overall I enjoyed the book and loved the personalities of the POSITIVE sistah's in the book- Angela and Tracie. They both had they're stuff together. I applaud Angela for doing the right thing by not getting back with Derrick because I'm sick of "Happy Endings" now Derrick should learn his lesson and Angela can move on with her fly and independent self!

Summary: Great book, but alittle disappointed!
Review: First of all, I loved the book and I would refer it to anyone who wants to be entertained and can relate to the siturations. However, I didn't like how Micheal wrote on DARK-SKINNED SISTAHS. As I dark-skinned 23 yr. old educated sistah I did think it was a little unneccesary. The light-skinned sistahs were protrayed as the beauty and dark-skinned sistahs were not. (Work on that bro) I enjoyed how most of the characters where at great points in their lives and careers where they had accomplished things and many more to come. It's not often you found all black males in a story doing great for themselves. I say to you Micheal, great job and much success to you. Men Cry In The Dark educated me on some facts of life and I thank you. My follow up book to read is Never Satified: How and Why Men Cheat, I really would like to know.

Summary: Please put a basic English book in your Amazon shopping cart
Review: I thought I stunk in English! I have not read the book, but I will read it soon so that I can know what NOT to do when I write my first book. I heard about all the spelling and grammatical errors, and I think that is a really sad that he cannot take time out of his busy schedule to get a refresher course in English. I was just reading the author's comments on the beginning of the page, and the few mistakes he made there, is just unacceptable for a published author. My little sister knows the difference between "there" and "their". He is too old and have too much money not to know the difference. Was Mr. Baisden born in 1963 or 1993? Come on, Michael, please represent black people better than that. We are not uneducated slaves anymore! P.S. I am still in school working on my English so that I can come across as being smart when I start writing.

Summary: i was shocked
Review: no only were there mistakes but i didnt like how he refered to young single mothers in the book we are not all uneducated loud and gold diggers maybe he should do more research before he calls himself an expert on women

Summary: good idea, bad book
Review: The language that this book was written in was so simplistic I felt like I was reading the writing of an amateur. The prose was neither interesting, flowing, or well thought. It was choppy and very nondescriptive. The book failed to go into detail in to the lives of the characters. It brushed over central themes for each character, but missed the little details that make prose seem more lifelike. This is a book that you can read in a very short period of time and not have to think about too much. It is all spelled out for you. IT was ok. That is the most credit I will give it.

Summary: "MEN CRY" very well.
Review: MEN CRY IN THE DARK had it's share of typos and more than a little erratic, but, it was very enjoyable and true to what some brothers think and how they live. Each of the men in this book was someone that I knew or associated with and it felt very real. I recently purchased MAINTENANCE MAN and can only hope that this novel can capture my interest just as well.

Summary: Truly Enjoyable
Review: I enjoyed every ounce of it, once I started I could not put it down. I was glad to see a male writer give the point of view presented in this book. I must admit, as a avid reader the ending took me by surprise. I would like to see Michael B. continue with the lives of these characters and the decisions that they make as they continue trying to find that special someone as well as be successful businessmen. The book in my opinion was not predictable. Had it been like every other fictional relationship book things would have worked out fine for Derrick. I am looking forward to his other books, especially Never Satisfied: How and Why Men Cheat. As a single woman I would like to understand why men go through such drastic measures to be a "Player".
