Summary: Men Cry?
Review: I had the pleasure of meeting Michael Baisden at a book signing at Park Avenue in Dallas, Texas (Dec. 1999). I had planned to read the book but never got around to it. After going through a divorce I recovered the book from storage and decided to read it in 2001. I was extremely impressed with Mr. Baisden's work. I never thought a men would cry and tell about it. I learned from his book to treasure committed relationships and to avoid temptations.

Summary: Boys Will be Boyss
Review: I can not write this review without giving kudos for the cover. It generated much conversation, to the point where I couldn't read while commuting because people (espcially men) wanted to know what it was about.

Michael Baisden definitely has his own way of writing a novel. I like how he tells it like it is without trying to sugar coat anything that men do.

I like books by men about men. While this is a work of fiction and the characters have been called stereotypical, but I know people like this, especially Mark.

I liked the friendship of the guys (Mark, Tony, Derrick, and Ben). The tests of their friendships is very true to life. We will never please everybody. Okay, I have certain fundamental problems with the characters, but that's just me being a woman and thinking that the logic of men is strange (at least some of their logic). I had to remind myself that this is a novel-not real life. This book was thoroughly entertaining. It's an easy read and it provides good laughs.

Summary: The Best
Review: This book was the first book I've read by a Black author and it is fantastic. I liked the fact that it's from a man's point of view I also liked that the men weren't the gangsta, thug, drug dealing types. They were all men trying to do something good for themselves. Most men in society are depicted as no good, low life, never gonna amount to nothing womanizers and that's a stereotype that needs to be broken. We all know that not ALL men are like that or at least we should know.

Summary: Thanks Michael!
Review: Thanks Michael for a wonderful book! Though I found myself with mix emotions, it left me wanting more. I have enjoyed reading your material and well as your semiar that I was able to attend at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Princess Anne, MD.

Your books give out laughter, tears, anger, and a reality of what many relationships experience on a day to day basis. It feels really good to have them come from a males point of view. For the sista's...it's a wake up to to listen, pay attention to your man and for the brother's...it's a wake up call to be true to the woman you love and yourself.

Thank you for putting such an effort into an outstanding piece of material. Readers....if you have to read these reviews to decide whether or not to read the book; "READ THE BOOK". You won't regret it! Great book!

Summary: Very Good book
Review: I really liked this book. It has the drama of a soap opera but with a sense of reality. One of the main characters is taught an important lesson and his girlfreind is taught not to trust so easily adn give out info on your man.And that's only part of the plot of this book!!! Good read

Summary: Did he write this in the dark?
Review: My son read it and asked me to read it so we could reference it in a life-long discussion we have on male/female relationships. I purchased it, took it along with me on a vacation and couldn't get past the first few pages. I think Baisden was either lazy or unskilled when he wrote this book. I never made it to the ending, and it's doubtful I'll pick up the book again.

Check out "The Season of Beento Blackbird." It's a more thoughtful and useful book about relationships.

Summary: An Easy Read
Review: After reading Michael Baisden's first book, I was surprised at the easy writing style of Men Cry in the Dark. I could not put the book down once I started. The characters were so real and life like....I felt like I knew them all. The story line was realistic and so was the ending......

Summary: Dear Michael
Review: I actually read the reviews because I was THINKING about reading the book. I thought the 1-star ratings were the most entertaining, so I gave him 1-star for effort and 2-stars for completion, but the reviews made me wonder, who is this guy? With all the clues, particularly, the mention of the View. I thought to myself "I THINK I know who people are talking about". Sure enough, I researched and realized that I DID read his other book, "why men cheat". I also, saw the View interview. I just assumed the guy was joking! He was hilarious!! Really ticking everybody off! Are you telling me he's serious? If so, There's really just one word for him. IGNORANT!! He should do stand up. I think I'll pass on this book, not unless someone gives it to me. I can always use a good laugh. :-)

Summary: One question: Why?
Review: Michael Baisden's "work" were referred to me. I was told I'd enjoy and laugh at his novel. I'm still waiting to laugh. Firstly, every one of his characters is a stereotype, none of them are developed, and the "plot" (thin as it was) was not even sitcom quality. Maybe the author should spend a little less time doing speaking engagements, and more time learning to write.
