Summary: Thought provoking and wonderful to see positive black men!
Review: Michael Baisden is truly a gifted and talented writer. I'm glad that someone finally wrote about black men in a positive light and not all of the male bashing that is on the market. All of the characters are people that we know and can relate too! All of the incidents, hit home, we all know someone that is going through or has gone through what the characters dealt with. One moment your laughing and the next moment he springs some deep thought provoking situation on you. There are lessons to be learned from reading this book. I say "Bravo!" I'm looking forward to his next book.

Summary: Read between the lines....But Ladies.....READ IT!!!!!!!!
Review: I don't care if you read between the lines, above the lines, below the lines or upside down, but read it!!! The characters were consistent, diverse and genuine. Point being, how they started, they ended and with no apology! Unlike many other authors, he mastered the art of telling a story with multiple characters with ease. I was never lost nor did I have to keep a mental scorecard. The characters flowed effortlessly into each other. Its been 3 weeks since I've read the book and as I think of each character I have to distinguish whether I am speaking of the book character or real people in my life. Mr. Baisden gave eye-opening insight about how the special guy in your life may be thinking! Even though from a literary standpoint, I could have done without the bold-faced print emphasis on words in a sentence during dialogue and the narrative exchange between first and third person, the book is a must read! Ladies, if a man tells you something and then shows you what he has said, believe him! Thank you Mr. Baisden for giving the picture of what a strong black woman looks like when she doesn't settle...for anything or anyone. Thank you for showing brothers with drive, dignity, strength and peace! OK yeah I was dissapointed with the resolution Angela and Derrick had to make, but Mr. Baisden, I got it! Kudos to you! I look so forward to the next one!!!!!

Summary: TREADING UPON ZENITH!!!
Review: Let me start by saying I truly enjoyed Michael Baisden's book "Men Cry in the Dark". The characters where tremendous. How funny it was to share the episodes of these men's lives. Now, ladies (sister to sister) all of you complaining about the female characters know that Michael simply struck a nerve of yours that you are to stubborn to validate with a sincere look at yourselves. (Basically, if you are a "Women" and you know who you are and are not merely trying to convince those around you that you are so deep and just be "real", you would have nothing but support of this brother's efforts.) For all of you who have not taken the opportunity to experience this story, I strongly encourage you to buy it (don't borrow---help a brother out) and read it and pass the enthusiasm on! I laughed out loud, I recalled memories that made me smile those special secret smiles in the middle of the day and I cryed for those brothers and sisters out there that still just don't get! Thanks Michael for it all...keep up the good work. This book would be a terrific film!

Summary: I¿m so happy when the lights come on we can see their smiles
Review: This book is a good buy if you're in the mood for some real sensitive feelings and a few good laughs. Unlike so many other books written by men who create characters based on how they wished there were. Michael created characters with true feelings and true flaws as well. I must say I was a little disappointed when Derrick and Angela didn't get back together, however Michael made a point about how sometimes women just have to demand respect at all cost. This is what I actually learned from a non-fiction book. Thanks Michael for showing me that.

Summary: This is an awesome depiction of the power of friendship.
Review: I truly enjoyed Mr. Baisden's storyline in Men Cry in the Dark. This is truly a moving story with great insight into the struggles for survival, love and friendship that face our black men today. I encourage anyone who wants to know the energy it takes to go after your dreams to read this book.

Summary: EXCELLENT,EXCELLENT, AND VERY REAL!!!!
Review: I READ THIS BOOK WHEN IT FIRST HIT THE BOOK SHELF. EACH CHARACTER HAD A DIFFERENT SCENERIO THAT KEPT ME SAYING "DAMN" THIS BOOK HAS CHARACTERS IN IT THAT DESCRIBE (IF NOT US-LADIES) SOMEONE WE KNOW! MOST BOOKS I'VE READ END IN A FAIRY-TALE WAY, NOT THIS ONE. THIS BOOK IS REAL!!! MICHAEL KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE!

Summary: GREAT !!!! GREAT BOOK!!!!!!!!! 5 STARS!!!!!!! LIFE..........
Review: I enjoyed this book A great deal. It's been some time since I've read something that I can relate to. This book brought to light four positive young black men who were about positive things and making it in this world. I reed this book in a two days, it's one you just couldn't put down. Keep up the great work Mr. Baisden and don't let those who obviously lack imagination and vision discourage you from writing the way you see it.

Summary: I cried too, tears of pain
Review: This was the worse book I've ever read. I would give it 0 stars if that were an option. I got this book because I usually enjoy reading male authors, especially black male authors. The subject matter was good, but the book seemed more like a first draft then the finished product. I wanted to cry, really. It was self published, but not profread. There were grammatical errors as well as typos. There should be no typos, especially when the book is poorly written. The characters were shallow. He failed to make the characters real, something more than fictional ideas. I only finished the book out of sheer determination. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

Summary: What a great book!
Review: This book focused on a man's point of view about relationships. As a woman, it was nice to read what a man is thinking about some of the things we do. It was refreshing to see a book about positive brothers trying to get and keep their lives together. The brothers were'nt perfect but they learned from their mistakes and that's what real life is about.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An excellent read from beginning to end. READ IT NOW!!!!
Review: I loved it. It showed insight into many types of women and men. You will not want to put it down. You could see people you know in the characters and feel their point of views. The ending was terrific, and made you say aloud "That's what I'm talking about." It's real from beginning to end. I'll definitely pass it on and recommend it to everyone I encounter. Michael, THANK YOU for a excellent read. It was good meeting you in Durham, NC at the Know Bookstore.
