Rating: Summary: great book. everyone should read this book Review: This book should be read by all the tramps and trolls, also by the men who think there are players. This book should make some people take a look at what they are actually doing to themselves.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Book! Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I couldn't wait to open the pages to see what was going to happen next. I believe the author developed the characters in such a way that you were "with" them, and were living the story along with the characters. The ending was a surprise, but I'm glad Mr. Baisden directed the ending in a not-so-obvious route. It was nice reading a male-point-of view about relationships. I have read other books re: this topic by some of our other brothers, but I liked how these brothers had it going on in spite of their upbringings. A must read!
Rating: Summary: GOOD JOB MIKE!!! Review: I really enjoyed the book! I liked the relationships that the guys had with each other. I could relate to apart of all the male characters in the book. It reminded me of my fellas and I. I thought it was a nice touch to give props or plugs to the Chicago Clubs, radio stations and radio personalities. Derrick should have kept his composure and held on to Angela. She was a DIME!!! Michael, if angela was based on a real expirence, Bruh... I'M CRYIN WITCHA!!! Take Care. Mike Coleman, Chicago, Il. Rating: Summary: The Black Man's "Waiting to Exhale" Review: I really enjoyed this book. The character development was very real, I was able to visualize the people to gain a solid picture of Mr. Baisden story. The main character was from Chicago and attended Morehouse College. I grew up in Chicago, went to Morehouse and could identify with the areas where the story took place. I hope Mr. Baisden continues developing story lines in the future that have this same clarity. Thank you Mr. Baisden for an enjoyable read.
Rating: Summary: Terriffic! This book has excitment, humor and drama of love. Review: Thanks Mr. Baisden for putting out another great book. After reading Never Satified which took me by great surprise of the childish games that men play, I was definately looking forward to reading another one of your books. I really like the positive, successful images of the main black characters in this book. It portrayed the non-sterotypical african american male/female in a progressive, sexual and intellectual relationship. Both male and female charaters were very strong indivduals. I perticularly admired Angela my heroine who sends a vital lesson to those Never Satisfied men that Great women are hard to find, unfortunately Derrick had to find out the hard way. Another Must Have book for all african american men and women in addition to Never Satisfied. Looking forward to reading your next great book. Wish you more success on your next book.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put it down!!! Review: Men Cry In the Dark, was an exceptional book. I enjoyed every page! It gave me insight as to how men view women...all race and financial aspects of women. And that there is a softer side to men...those who are strong enough allow that side to be seen. I can't wait for his next book!!!
Rating: Summary: Five stars--say what? Review: I wonder if the people that gave this book five stars read a great deal. I read about a book a month (most times more), and this book wasn't good at all. Micheal Basiden has potential, don't get me wrong...but this book wasn't well developed. If this was a first draft I would say, it was a good start, but since it's a final draft I'll say bad finish. I wasn't exactly lost, but I didn't feel the characters were well developed, nor did I care what happened next in their lives. I didn't understand the meaning of the title. Men Cry in the Dark? O.K., and? Women Cry in the Light. What's the difference? This book had some really good scenes in it...no doubt. But the book as a whole needed some work. Sorry Micheal...but I know you'll get better. (Too bad I won't be giving you another try...I'm sticking to Omar Tyree, Sheneska Jackson, and Eric Jerome Dickey)
Rating: Summary: Easy to read. One you should not Miss........... Review: He did a fine job. The brothers were real and the issues were vital. The ending was the "bomb". You have to stand & have faith in yourself and that's what the final outcome had to be. One side pt. in your next book do less cursing. Thanks.
Rating: Summary: Please Believe Me! Review: Now I'm not going to sit here and lie like most of these people on here who gave this book five stars...they must not read a great deal. Secondly, I'm not going to put Mr.Baisden down by saying that he can't write because he truly has a few really good scenes in the book. I don't think the book degraded women or men in any way. It was real. The only thing is, his characters weren't fully developed. By page 100 I should not be refering back to the flap of the book wondering who is Derrick again? Oh, o.k....now who is so and so. And what was up with all the high fives in the book? The only reason I completed this book was because I was in the airport all day long and didn't have any money for a real book or magazine. This book wasn't bad...but it showl wasn't good. Maybe he should take this first draft back and revise it--I wouldn't mind helping. Believe me, the potential is there. It ended too fast (with a terrible conclusion), and it never reached its point. What does the title have to do with the book? Men Cry in the Dark? O.K., and? If anybody is thinking about buying this book..take Amazon's word and get an Omar Tyree or Sheneska Jackson book instead. Please believe me! I ain't gotta lie! *L*
Rating: Summary: A Year To Remember Review: Now that my tour has come to and end, I would like to give thanks to the creator for blessing me with success in this increasingly competitive industry. It's a great feeling as a black man to be able to demonstrate to my daughter as well as to other children, that they can achieve success at something besides singing and dribbling a basketball. I'd also like to once again thank all of you out there who stood by me through all of the harsh criticism. It's been a long and hard road but with your support and God's guidance I think I've finally gotten over the hump. Now it's time to settle in for the long winter and complete my next book, The Maintenance Man. I will be posting the release date on my site in May along with the synopsis and possible excerpts from the first Chapter. If you belong to a book club, please e-mail me with your information. Book clubs will be notified directly about the release date. Once again, thanks for supporting my books and my seminars. I'm anxiously looking forward to seeing all of you next year with a new book and a new seminar format. Until than, Happy Holidays and stay out of trouble.
