Throughout the book, the reader is on edge as uneasiness prowls. Still, Lorraine Heath continues to seduce her reader, drawing upon her excellent writing style, and applying subtle humor throughout the pages.Within the book, we discover one of the most wonderful heros ever to grace a romance novel. Jake Burnett, a product of a wretched childhood, has grown to be a gentle, tender man -- yet, a man who can gain another man's total respect. He has been Rebecca Anderson's dependable friend and now she has become his reluctant wife. Hesitant? Why? Rebecca loves another man. The reader becomes completely involved in the growing relationship of a husband and wife. The uneasiness that flutters, throughout the book, suddenly slams into the reader. Oh, Rebecca girl say it ain't so. Don't go! This reader could not believe the road Lorraine Heath elected to travel. I literally sobbed . . . "She left me as soon as his foot crossed the threshold of our house. The only hope of holding onto anything we had is to let her go. Otherwise, bitterness and regret will kill everything. She'll always wonder what it would have been like if she had gone with him. She loves him, and now he's come for her . . ." This writer has drawn a poignant and gripping work of art. Thank you, Lorraine Heath, for taking the time to master your craft. Grace Atkinson, Ontario - Canada.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A sweet and fulfilling story Review: I have read a number of Lorraine Heath's books but this was a bit of a change. It is a very sweet, moving and inspiring story of a man whose love knows no limits, a woman who is learning to find herself and an extraordinary marriage which, ultimately, brings poignant happiness and completion to a man and a woman who truly deserve it. Rebecca is pregnant by another man (a juvenile, hormone inspired first lust who is not what she thought) and is married to Jake, a man who has overcome a past of pain, humiliation and rejection. However, he has a bottomless heart and a love for Rebecca which allows him to let her walk away. Ultimately, however (this is a romance after all!) she returns giving him (and therefore herself) such happiness that you just know these two will continue on in one of those very special marriages which brings completion to both partners and the children they produce. This is a keeper to be reread from time to time for the pleasure of watching these two people find their happiness and love.

Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: A good read, but not a keeper...(3 1/2 stars) Review: The daughter of a prosperous rancher, Rebecca Anderson is shocked and upset when she finds herself pregnant and abandoned by the man she loved.
Jake Burnett is a good man that has had a hard life... he has never felt wanted. While working for Rebeccas father, Jake falls in love with her, but only from afar. He is surprised and pleased when Rebeccas father proposes that Jake and Rebecca marry so that her child might have a legal name.
"Sweet Lullaby" was an okay read. I really really liked Jake, but I wasnt too impressed with Rebecca. I though she was extremely selfish and didnt deserve Jake. I also thought that the books style felt oddly amateurish for Lorraine Heath. Many of the scenes where very short and choppy and didnt flow well together, but overall it was a quick, decent read. This is not a book that I would consider a keeper, but it was worth reading.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Perfect, Heath does it again. Review: The hero is vulnerable and in need of love but you would never know it because he hides it so well. This is the gift of Lorraine Heath's pen. She did it with this book and her "Always to Remember" and "Texas Destiny." The main male leads of these three novels are written to perfection. They need the love of the heroine in each story, but they are proud and determined not to show it. How they break down the walls they built around themselves is heart wrenching. It will melt your heart. You will cry and you will re-read these 3 books again and again. Find them, buy them and enjoy them for years to come.

Review: This book draws you straight into the heart of Jake, a man whose unselfish love leads him to the edge of despair and ultimately brings him the purest form of happiness. Once again, Ms. Heath delivers the "perfect man" while keeping the reader guessing until the end.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Unique romance Review: This is definitely an unique romance story I've read after reading hundreds of romance books (literally!) In that, instead of the usual act of selfless love and dedication mostly done by women characters, it is the man who displays these emotions and actions. An average guy who falls in love with a beautiful woman who doesn't notice until after their marriage of a few months. He loves her unconditionally even though she was pregnant with another man's seed and in love with the man who deserted her, the opposite of Jake, handsome and self-absorbed. It was heart-warming to see how Jake's character was displayed throughout the book. You can feel his pain when he goes through pain and letting go of his love. I admire Jake for his unconditional love towards Rebecca even though she doesn't return those emotions back til later when she chooses her life to be with her love who deserted her. I think the book would have been better if Rebecca had more of a stronger character. She doesn't really give a reason to her love for Brett except perhaps the physical attraction. She doesn't fight for her marriage to work, and leaves so that she could be with Brett. If she had a stronger character, she would have realized from the start that Brett wasn't the man for her, especially when she catches a naked woman in his bed! But she ignores that incident, and accept's his infidilities. She then realizes her love for Jake, and comes back. Jake was appreciated more in the story and others see his unique strong character to admire and want, how could Rebecca turn him down for someone who she felt physically attracted to? I am pleased with Lorraine Heath's writing, she's a great writer! My favorite and I would highly recommend is Texas Splendor, an awesome heart-felting romance.
